High-scoring Blues win among the picks

The Coral News Team have put their heads together, studied the stats and produced a European football acca for you.

This Wednesday night fivefold includes action from the Premier League, as well as key games in Ligue 1 and the Copa Del Rey. If the selections come in, a £5 stake would deliver a tidy £148.41. Odds correct at time of writing.

Here are the team’s selections, beginning with Chelsea’s clash with Swansea City…

Chelsea v Swansea City: Chelsea to Win and Over 3.5 Goals

When Antonio Conte’s men have won games this season, they’ve tended to rack up the goals. In six of their victories across all competitions this term, the Blues have registered four or more goals.

Previous meetings with the Swans have also tended to be goal-filled affairs. Chelsea won the last meeting 3-1, meaning that five of the last six Head-to-Heads have produced four or more goals.

The Swans have struggled for goals this term, but do have proven striking talent like Wilfried Bony and Jordan Ayew, who can make a goal from nothing. That means the Coral News Team fancy Chelsea to Win and Over 3.5 Goals at 9/5.

Olympique Lyonnais v Lille: Lyon -1

Despite losing Alexandre Lacazette to Arsenal in the summer, Lyon have not struggled for goals. They’ve managed 37 of them in 14 Ligue 1 games. Combined with a decent defensive record, that’s seen them put the sword to opponents.

Four of Lyon’s last five games in all competitions have been won by a margin of three goals or more. That includes 5-0 wins at Saint-Etienne and Nice.

As for Lille, they head to Groupama Stadium on the back of successive 3-0 defeats. The Coral News Team are expecting another resounding victory for Les Gones. The Lyon -1 handicap looks a very safe bet at 20/23.

Everton v West Ham United – Both Teams to Score

The Toffees currently have the leakiest Premier League defence, shipping 28 goals in 13 matches. And the Irons have fared little better, conceding 26 times in the division thus far.

That means strikers from both sides could have a field day. While both sides have been dismal at the back, neither have really struggled for goals.

Everton have found the net in four successive games in all competitions, while the Hammers have registered seven times in their previous five outings. Both Teams to Score looks a solid bet at 3/4.

Stoke City v Liverpool: Second Half Result – Liverpool

In recent Head-to-Heads between these clubs, the presiding theme has been the Merseysiders coming strong after the interval.

Liverpool have outscored the Potters after the interval in each of the previous three clashes, scoring a combined six second-half goals without reply.

Mark Hughes’ side blew a 1-0 lead against Crystal Palace on Saturday, with Mamadou Sakho grabbing a 92nd-minute winner for the Eagles. Jurgen Klopp’s men are likely to expose those weaknesses, having scored six goals after the break in their last four Prem games. Second Half Result: Liverpool looks good at 4/5.

Celta Vigo to beat Eibar

Eibar have struggled on their travels in La Liga this term, losing five of their seven away games. And their away form is unlikely to change in Wednesday’s Copa Del Rey clash with Celta.

Celticos have won the two prior Head-to-Heads this term, with 4-0 and 2-1 victories. And the hosts’ home record also offers little hope for Eibar.

Juan Carlos Unzue’s men are hunting a third successive win at Estadio de Balaidos, and have striker Iago Aspas in stunning form. Celta to Win looks a sure thing at 4/5.
