International games dominate

The international action gets into full swing this evening, and leads the way for tonight’s acca from the Coral News Team.

Focusing on a number of qualifiers around the globe, plus a certain friendly at Wembley and League Two clash, there’s plenty to enjoy.

The team have chosen five picks from the evening’s action, and if all five are correct, a £5 stake would return £346.55. All prices and returns correct at time of writing.

Sweden v Italy – Draw

Sweden were handed the short straw in the play-offs.  If they’re to have any chance of defeating Italy over two legs then they must get something from the first contest in Solna.

Italy boast a far superior squad, and plenty of attacking prowess in Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne.

They won’t do anything risky tonight though, especially since their invincible home form should see them through. Italy haven’t lost a home qualifier since 1999.

That could give Sweden a sniff in the first leg however, and the draw stands out at 21/10.

Senegal to beat South Africa

This game is being replayed 12 months after South Africa won the initial meeting 2-1.

It was later found that the referee awarded a penalty for a nonexistent handball. The game was annulled and the ref banned for life.

So it means Group D in Africa’s qualification is still wide open.

But leaders Senegal can wrap it up with a victory, and a squad boasting Sadio Mane, Idrissa Gueye and Moussa Sow should prevail at 8/5.

Honduras to beat Australia

Australia have already toiled against Syria, and failed to win away at Saudi Arabia and Thailand.

So it’s a push to envisage a side still lead by 37-year-old Tim Cahill winning away at Honduras in this Inter-confederation play-off.

The hosts have only lost three of their last 17 home games, and that included an excellent 3-2 win over Mexico.

Honduras keep the acca going at 19/20.

Germany to beat England

Over to Wembley where England host Germany.

Both teams comfortably qualified for Russia, so this is very much a preparatory fixture.

That’s especially true in England’s case with a number of first-team players pulling out of the squad.

So it will be an untried Three Lions side and that makes Joachim Low’s Germany an excellent shout for victory at 11/10.

Newport County to beat Port Vale

It’s not all about the internationals tonight though, as Newport County host Port Vale in League Two.

The Welsh side have slipped a little in recent weeks, but they’ve been strong at home.

County have lost just four of their 19 home fixtures in 2017, and are 11/10 to see off a Vale side which has already failed to net in four away games this term.
