Five selections from the English games

After the opening salvo of Champions League and Europa League group games in midweek, attention returns to domestic duties this Saturday.

And Coral’s football gurus have been busily scouring the formbook to pick out their latest five-fold.

A £5 wager could return a tidy £230.20 should the five picks come in this afternoon. All prices and returns correct at time of publishing.

And it all gets underway at Selhurst Park…

Crystal Palace to beat Southampton

Frank de Boer is gone after just 77 days and Roy Hodgson is in. Debate has raged all week about the Eagles’ handling of the situation, but they should be markedly improved against Southampton.

Hodgson will bring organisation and unity, and they’ve got an excellent chance of their first points versus a goal-shy Saints.

Eager to impress the new gaffer, Palace are a great shout at 2/1 to get today’s acca up and running.

Sheffield United to beat Norwich

With four wins on the spin Sheffield United are the form team in the Championship.

After losing away at Middlesbrough and Cardiff in August (two of the league favourites) the Blades have been unstoppable.

Mid-table Norwich can only dream of such form. Held to a 0-0 draw by relegation candidates Burton, the Canaries are inconsistent, and have conceded eight goals in their last two away games.

United are 7/5 to make it five wins in a row.

Middlesbrough to beat QPR

Middlesbrough are still finding their way after a change of manager and a busy summer in the transfer market.

But Garry Monk’s men have been excellent at home, picking up seven points from nine games.

They haven’t conceded at the Riverside either, while QPR have collected just one point on their travels this term. A home win beckons at 8/11.

Blackburn to beat Wimbledon

After a slow start to life in the third tier, Blackburn are storming up the table with four wins on the bounce.

Tony Mowbray’s men can boost this Coral five-fold at 8/13 to make it five against Wimbledon, who have won just once this season.

Further enhancing Rovers’s credentials is the fact they’ve conceded just once in their last four league games, while the Dons are proving goal-shy with just four goals of their own this term.

Accrington to beat Chesterfield

They slipped up in midweek at home to Grimsby, but you can rest assured John Coleman will ensure Accrington bounce back.

Stanley are the joint top-scorers in League Two, and they play host to Chesterfield, owners of the third-leakiest defence.

The Spireites are winless in four, and their Lancashire hosts look good at 23/20 to consign them to another defeat and conclude Saturday’s Coral five-fold.
