Segunda Division rivals face off in Aragon

The second round of the Copa del Rey gets underway this week, as sides from Spain’s Segunda Division begin their quest for a memorable cup run. That includes second-tier pair SD Huesca and Real Valladolid.

Rubi’s men have had the better of this fixture in recent times, with the Aragon outfit beating Valladolid in each of the past three meetings. In fact, Pucela haven’t won this fixture since April 2012.

However, it’s tended to be a close-run thing, with Huesca winning by a one-goal margin in each of the last trio of encounters.

The Coral News team are expecting much of the same here. The Coral Bet of the Day for Wednesday is Tie on Handicap: Huesca -1 at 29/10.

Hosts keep it tight when they win

Rubi’s side aren’t the Segunda Division’s highest scorers, with the team’s defensive strength providing the platform for their victories. In fact, four of Huesca’s last five victories have come with a clean sheet.

As for Valladolid, they’ve managed just three goals in the past four head-to-heads, drawing a blank on their most recent visit to Estadio El Alcoraz in March. That means the 14/5 on offer for Huesca to Win to Nil could prove a savvy selection.

Damage could come after the interval

Five of Huesca’s last eight victories have come in games where the score has been level at half-time. That’s a useful stat on its own, but it’s especially so when you consider that the last two clashes between this pair have been 0-0 at the break.

With Pucela not averse to shipping goals after the break, as proved by May’s second-half surrender of a 2-0 lead at Mirandes, Coral News like the look of Half-Time/Full-Time: Draw/Huesca at 17/4.
