£5 on Tuesday’s Champions League acca pays over £118

Five-fold on opening UCL night

The Champions League group stage begins in earnest tonight with some tasty-looking games kicking us off.

Roma face Atletico Madrid, Celtic host Paris Saint-Germain in Glasgow, and Barcelona clash with Juventus at Camp Nou.

There’s plenty of English interest on the night, too. Manchester United welcome FC Basel and Chelsea play Qarabag FK at Stamford Bridge.

The Coral News team love nothing more than backing a UCL acca for extra interest.

Placing a £5 stake on the following could lead to a payout of £118.50. Prices and returns mentioned are correct at the time of writing.

Here are our selections.

Atletico Madrid to beat Roma

The accumulator kicks off with a big 13/8 pick in Atletico to beat Roma at Stadio Olimpico.

Both sides have had an okay start to their respective seasons. The Giallorossi have won one and lost one from their first two. Atleti have drawn two and won one from their opening four.

However, the Serie A side have lost five of their last eight UCL home games.

The La Liga giants have won four of their last six away, losing just once, against Bayern Munich.

Manchester United to beat FC Basel

The last time these two sides met, the Swiss Super League side stopped Man United from qualifying for the knockout phase.

Jose Mourinho wasn’t in charge back then, though. The Red Devils have won 11 of their last 17 UCL games at Old Trafford, losing just twice.

Basel, on the other hand, have won just five of their last 17 away fixtures in this competition – including qualifiers.

At 2/11, United look a safe pick.

Benfica to beat CSKA Moscow

Benfica host CSKA at the Estadio da Luz safe in the knowledge that they have a super record against Russian teams.

The Portuguese champions have only lost once at home to Russian Premier League sides in eight meetings.

CSKA also don’t travel too well in Europe, having failed to win any of their last 10 UCL group games.

At 4/6, the Aguias are our third pick.

Barcelona to beat Juventus

It’s rare to see Barcelona at 4/6 to win at home in the group stage but that’s precisely the price Blaugrana are to beat Juventus.

The Serie A side have a number of injury worries going into this game. Giorgio Chiellini is out, as is Mario Mandzukic, Juan Cuadrado, Sami Khedira and a number of others.

A weakened Juve may not be able to cope with a Barca side that have started the season brilliantly under new coach, Ernesto Valverde.

Three games, nine goals, and zero conceded. Oh, and Lionel Messi is on fire.

Sporting CP to beat Olympiacos

Sporting have made a stunning start to the 2017-18 Primeira Liga campaign.

Leoes have won their five opening games, scoring 15 goals in the process.

Olympiacos have a good record in UCL games but can they handle the fast and furious football of Jorge Jesus?

It looks a very even contest but Sporting could have the edge. They complete the acca at 7/4.
