Rumour reel: one and done for Manchester United

Jose expects one more newbie at Old Trafford

English teams aren’t the only ones spending freely this summer. We told you about PSG’s incredible £195m move for Barcelona striker Neymar yesterday, and now AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus.

The Serie A rivals agreed on a price of £35m for the 30-year-old Italian defender, taking Milan’s spending for the summer to £160m, with more to come. The 18-time champions are well worth keeping an eye on next season. What’s good from the rumour reel on Friday…..

Aurier or Fabinho decision for Mourinho

Jose Mourinho told the papers yesterday that he expects to make one more signing during this transfer window, and then his work is done. Do we believe him? Not for a second, but who is he chasing? The Special One has been targeting some big names of late, including the likes of Ronaldo and Bale, but neither amounted to anything serious. Will it be a case of what could’ve been for fans, or does Jose have that one big signing in him? He has already called it a difficult window for his side, unable to capitalise on winning the Europa League and being back in the Champions League, but they’re believed to be close to bagging another defender. PSG right-back Serge Aurier is being considered, if an agreement can’t be made with Monaco for Brazilian Fabinho. Meanwhile, Werder Bremen want to take Anthony Martial on loan.

Silva wants Carrillo reunion

Watford are eager to improve on last season, and manager Marco Silva captured the headlines with the signing of midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah from Chelsea. The 22-year-old enjoyed a great summer at the U21 European Championships in Poland, with England reaching the semi-finals. He has been joined at Vicarage Road by the likes of Kiko Femenia, Daniel Bachmann, Tom Cleverley and Will Hughes. Silva is now focusing his attention on Lyon striker Maxwel Cornet and Benfica winger Andre Carrillo. The former has turned down the chance to move to London, apparently, but Peruvian Carrillo is open to a transfer. Silva knows the 26-year-old well from their time together at Sporting Lisbon, and a season-long loan deal looks to be his best chance of making that happen.

West Ham in for Chicharito

We’ve been keeping a close eye on goings on in Stratford this week, and The Hammers look to be after another big name in former Manchester United attacker Javier Hernandez. The Londoners are closing in on a £24m deal for Stoke striker Marko Arnautovic, and will keep the cheque book open to sign The Little Pea from Bayer Leverkusen. Nothing has been finalised there, but those close to the club say both parties are confident of getting it sorted out sooner rather than later. 29-year-old Hernandez scored 59 goals in 156 appearances for Manchester United during his time at the club, and returned 39 for 76 at Leverkusen. West Ham’s attack is shaping up nicely.
