London club target Man City keeper

Another day, another twist in the transfer rumour reel, as Spurs look to take a Leicester target from under their nose. But more on that later. We had a confirmed deal – Jack Cork to Burnley. The Clarets bought Swansea’s 28-year-old midfielder for a fee thought to be £10m.

Cork signed a four-year contract, and told fans he is excited by the new challenge and looking forward to working with his teammates. Supporters will be hoping he can help Sean Dyche and co build on last season’s positives. Here’s a round-up of the latest newspaper talk.

Hart

Hart to West Ham a perfect fit

Joe Hart’s future took another twist this week with the news that West Ham want to bring the England goalkeeper to Stratford. That one is believed to be in the very early stages, and goes as nothing more than rumour at the minute, but it would surely be a great fit for all concerned. West Ham would get a keeper of the highest standard as they aim to improve on last season, Man City would get rid of a player they see as an inconvenience, and Joe Hart would get regular football at a decent Premier League side and have every chance of holding on to his number one spot in the England team for next year’s World Cup. We’ll let you know how it develops.

Sanchez 2

Wenger says Sanchez wants to stay

It’s a rumour that has raged all summer – where will Alexis Sanchez play his football this season. He has been linked with just about every major European club over the last couple of months, from Man City to Bayern Munich, but the latest has caught everyone completely off-guard – Arsene Wenger thinks he’ll stay at Arsenal. Surely not? Surely there’s too much water under the bridge on that one, or was it all guess work by the tabloids while Sanchez was away at the Confederations Cup, unable to defend himself? Interesting. The Gunners manager spoke to the press this week, claiming the player has not told him he wants to leave the club, therefore, he expects him to stay on and help with the rebuilding job.

Kelechi

Spurs to hijack Leicester’s Iheanacho move

Leicester were getting ready to turn the screw on the Kelechi Iheanacho from Man City deal, but Tottenham have made a late bid to hijack that, setting the cat amongst the pigeons. Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is said to be an admirer of the 20-year-old, but newspapers are reporting the real reason behind the deal is to help along City’s bid for Kyle Walker. Whatever is going on there, it’s obvious Leicester fans will be absolutely furious, as they thought they had got their hands on one of the Premier League’s hottest properties. The choice of where Kelechi plays his football may just be taken out of his hands.
