Toffees showing no signs of slowing up

Huddersfield swooped on a great Dane this week, bringing Copenhagen defender Mathias Jorgensen to the John Smith’s Stadium in a £3.5m deal. The 27-year-old committed to a three-year contract and fans will be hoping their newbie has what it takes to improve the side.

Believe it or not, we are now less than five weeks away from the start of the 2017/18 Premier League season, with Arsenal vs Leicester bringing the curtain up on Friday 11th August. The Gunners have to get moving on their recruitment drive, and it’s Everton who have been setting the pace.

Koeman

Koeman continues to build

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has been working overtime to improve his side, bringing in the likes of Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford and Davy Klaassen. Romelu Lukaku may be on his way to Man United, but they’ve found the perfect replacement, with Wayne Rooney travelling in the opposite direction, United even offering to pay part of the 31-year-old’s hefty salary. The Toffees are also hot on the heels of Wolfsburg attacker Anton Donkor. The 19-year-old should return on loan, and would be made feel most welcome by fans. Not enough Everton goss? They’ve also agreed a £4m fee with QPR for prospect Josh Bowler.

Llorente

Chelsea back in for Llorente

Chelsea have been linked with plenty of big names already this summer, as Antonio Conte searches Europe for a striker to pick up the slack once Diego Costa finally takes the hint and leaves – newspaper reports suggest that could be any day now, with the Spaniard saying his goodbyes to teammates. Perhaps the answer to Chelsea’s problems has been right under their nose all this time. Set to miss out on Romelu Lukaku, the Belgian choosing a move to Manchester United over a return to Stamford Bridge, Swansea ace Fernando Llorente has popped back up as a potential target. At 32, he’s not the long-term solution fans wanted, but he certainly has the quality, and is a known scorer in the league, meaning there will be no settling in period. We imagine followers of The Blues will be somewhat underwhelmed.

Giroud

Marseille enter race for Giroud

Olivier Giroud – Marseille are the latest side to throw their hat in the ring, with West Ham also thought to be preparing a bid. Many fans of The Gunners think some of Wenger’s targets aren’t too much better than they already have in Giroud, but it’s becoming increasingly obvious the French striker’s time at the Emirates is up. Arsenal won’t let their man go on the cheap however, and want around £25m before they will enter into discussions. Will The Hammers pay that? We’re not sure, but Marseille certainly will, and have already sent in a bid of £24.7m to test the water. If there’s no 11th hour raid from Stratford, that should go through without too much hassle.
