Jordan Spieth wins The Open: Twitter reacts
Social media responds to Sunday’s drama
It was a pulsating end to The Open on Sunday, as Jordan Spieth battled past Matt Kuchar at Royal Birkdale. The 23-year-old Texan won his third career major, but needed a stunning finish to see off his rival, finishing on 12 under par, three shots better.
It really was anyone’s to win heading into the final day, and the destination of the Claret Jug remained in the balance with a few holes remaining. A run of three birdies and an eagle saw Spieth run out a deserving champion.
The viewing was tense, and golf lovers young and old took to social media to have their say on what was unfolding. Coral have picked out some tweets from the day, which we think capture the mood perfectly…..
Tiger has more to worry about
At 23 years old, Spieth now has more major wins (3) to his name than Tiger Woods did (2) at the same age…#TheOpenpic.twitter.com/NHJ1rUuEp5

No, we don’t get it either
Jordan Spieth just showed Marin Cilic how true champions respond when the going gets tough in sport. Brilliant. ??#OpenChampionshippic.twitter.com/yHcAy7Q8WH
