Three away wins from the Champions League

Tuesday gives punters a healthy interest, with the Champions League qualifying second round taking centre stage. We’re at the second-leg phase, so have more than enough to go on as we aim to enhance our midweek with a winning bet.

Malmo beat Vardar

Swedish side Malmo were expected to make home advantage count and book their place in the next round with plenty to spare. It didn’t work out like that, and The Blues now must go to Vardar Skopje for the first time knowing they simply have to score, and simply have to win. They were held to a 1-1 draw a week ago, falling behind to a Nikolov goal on 62 minutes. Brorsson hit back shortly after to spare their blushes, but the selections know they must double their efforts if they are to sneak through. It was a poor game, but Malmo should come on for it, and although we expect a few hairy moments, the visitors are the better side and deserve a play at even money.

BATE Borisov beat Alashkert

Another away side taken to do the business, and another side who shot themselves in the foot last time. We had BATE picked to call on their experience of playing in European football to get through, but they ended 1-1 in front of their own fans. Rios had BATE ahead just before half-time, but they were their own worst enemy, Rios also netting at the wrong end midway through the second-half to leave the tie hanging in the balance. They should’ve got the win, but couldn’t turn possession into goals. We’re hoping they are a tad more ruthless here. 17/20 looks fair.

Qarabag beat Samtredia

We finish up with the last of three away wins, but it’s not quite as pressing for Qarabag to get the result, as they ran riot first time out. The Azerbaijani champions were 5-0 winners in leg one, with goals from Ismayilov, Ndlovu x2, Aveska and Michel sealing the deal. That means they can take their foot off the gas here, but we don’t expect them to. They have the chance to go and cause a bit of a stir at this level by building on that win and putting some big numbers on the board. They are streets ahead of their opponents, and will show it here. Get on at 19/20.
