Johnson trusted at a big price
As the golfing calendar continues to gather pace towards another important summer season, followers turn their attentions towards Fort Worth, Texas for the Dean & Deluca Invitational, which gets underway on Thursday.

Spieth looking to defend

That tally would’ve been enough to see him come home ahead in most of the recent renewals of this competition. With that in mind, 12/1 looks a very generous call indeed. Worth a go?
Zach has done it all before
We certainly wouldn’t put anyone off a play on Jordan Spieth, but are happy to take a chance and bypass the local lad this week. As usual, we cast our eye down the pecking order in search of a value pick, capable of giving us a run for our money at tastier odds, and with that in mind we try our luck on Zach Johnson.
The 41-year-old American is another former winner of this tournament, doing the business back in 2012, and there’s reason to believe he can repeat the feat this time. Zach has, in fact, picked up this title twice before, that effort in 2012 following on from a previous win in 2010. Two titles in three years, he’s surely worth keeping close again here.
Granted, he hasn’t got near doing the same for a while now, but the two-time major winner, Masters in 2007 and Open in 2015, has been edging towards a return to form, and should show again just why he loves playing this course.
Accuracy the key in Texas
Bombing out of the starting blocks isn’t a big deal here, the set-up at Fort Worth plays into the hands of those taking a more sensible approach, and we’ll see Zach’s accuracy come into play. He will pick out those greens when it matters, while many of his competitors struggle to work out the best approach with the irons in hand. A course like this is a perfect chance to back an experienced player, and Johnson’s past wins will see him better many of the betting’s major names as the week progresses.
