DJ to top the charts in Texas

Favourite will live up to the hype

AT&T Byron Nelson Championship gets Coral’s golf punters talking this week, with the action from TPC Four Seasons Resort in Texas getting underway on Thursday evening. Sky Sports bring us every swing live, and we provide the betting to give you an interest throughout.

A talent-laden field contest the title won by Sergio Garcia last year, but there’s no doubt in the minds of Coral traders who the outright winner of this tournament will be, with Dustin Johnson a nailed down jolly.

Garcia chasing a double

Our sports guys have shown their true colours here, and don’t fancy opposing the popular American, but if you’re looking to take him on with one at a bigger price, taking the Spaniard to do two in-a-row makes plenty of appeal at 14/1. The 37-year-old won his first major when claiming the US Masters at Augusta last month, ensuring there will be plenty of shrewd money on him this time.

Last year’s triumph was Garcia’s second win in this format, but it was achieved thanks to a play-off finish, Brooks Koepka the beaten man in a nail-biting finish. Our traders can’t part the two again, and if you expect Brooks to bounce back and go one better this year, he also tees off as a 14/1 poke.

No point opposing Johnston

In our weekly golf previews we love taking one at a price, opposing the favourite, but on this occasion I find it too difficult to argue against DJ, so we’re supporting the market leader to do as expected and bank the prize money.

The world number one has shown in the past that he loves going around this course, and the AT&T Byron Nelson comes at a time when he could do with enjoying his golf again. Granted, he has let punters down a few times this year, making some silly mistakes when in a great positon, but last year’s US Open champ arrives with confidence to burn.

More to come from DJ

We’ve never seen DJ in better form that he is at the moment, but think he’s capable of getting better. He gave a fantastic account of himself last week, and will arrive with a smile on his face and eager to prove his worth again.

There are plenty of clues from previous visits to TPC Four Seasons to suggest we’ll see a big effort here whilst, other than Garcia, it’s extremely difficult to make a solid case for any of his main rivals. 4/1 is as short as you’d want about a player over four days, but if he performs to the best of his ability, and gets a rub of the green needed, that price will look big enough.

Those wanting to take a chance on an outsider can bet on the Each Way market with confidence, knowing we are paying out 1/5 the odds a place 1-2-3-4-5-6-7. That makes backing an underdog that little bit easier.
