Lewis to beat Chisnall
It’s always risky having your cash on Adrian Lewis at the minute, as we never know what version of Jackpot will turn up. He has certainly not been living up to his early promise, with critics suggesting he’s become disillusioned with the game. If he turns up, he wins this well. Plain and simple. Coral’s 6/5 I’m right is worth a poke.
Taylor beat Wade
James Wade, another tricky customer, faces Taylor, a man running out of time. The Power dropped the first big hint that his abilities are waning in his post-match interview with Sky last week. He told fans it’s getting more difficult to put in the hours of practice to remain at the top level and admitted he’s getting old. Happens to the best of us Phil. He’ll want to go out of the Premier League with a bang, and is backed at 4/5.
Anderson beat Klaasen
Anderson is a player with confidence to burn on a normal night, but when meeting Klaasen, he has a real swagger about his work. The Flying Scotsman has won each of his last eight meetings with Thursday’s opponent, all by a comfortable margin too. We saw nothing in week one that would suggest that is going to change here. Gary is a strong bet at 4/11.
Van Gerwen beat Wright
Not that we need a reason to back MVG these days but he’s a defending champion bang in form and one refusing to rest now he has established himself in the game. The Dutchman is constantly striving to better himself and has the steely determination that you only see in sporting greats. He faces a Peter Wright with title aims, but that will bring the best out in Mighty. 4/11 looks very reasonable indeed.
Barneveld beat Huybrechts
The competition’s least experienced player at this level meets the daddy of darts in Raymond van Barneveld. Barney comes to win, that never changes, and he will see this as an ideal opportunity to put points on the board. 8/11 at Coral on the Dutchman will serve our needs nicely.
