Lefty looks right at a price

Golf punters are in for a bit of a treat this week with the renewal of the always-popular Phoenix Open. The action from Scottsdale gets swinging on Thursday and Sky Sports bring us every stroke live. Coral have plenty to bet on, ensuring that your viewing pays off.

Jordan Spieth goes into the week at the head of the outright market, and we’re offering up an attractive 8/1. He finished in the top-10 on his last effort in this tournament and is the form player of the year so far. Punters know anything near his best will be more than enough to walk away with the winner’s cheque.

Phil still has it

We are looking for something at a bit more of a price however and, with value in mind, the man to carry our stake money in his golf bag is the ever-reliable and vastly-experienced Phil Mickelson. Lefty won this title back in 2013 with a jaw-dropping 28 under-par. That would have been enough to claim this in most of its renewals, and is near double the best score carded by the other four names to have won the gong in the last five years.

The 46-year-old Californian has, in fact, won the Phoenix Open three times in his career, 1996, 2005 and that 2013 effort. The course has been tweeked a little since he last came out on top, but that doesn’t mean he can’t go on and seal number four. The challenges seem to sit fine with Mickelson as he settles steadily into his game. Past champions have shown us that you don’t have to explode out of the traps here.

Phil Mickelson starred in a great response from the USA.

In the mood for a winner

Punters never know what they are going to get with Phil these days, when he is in the mood, he will go and win any title that he wants, at any level of golf, but we have watched plenty of times in the past when he just doesn’t fancy it, and will go through the motions if not around the major places.

One thing we can rely on Mickelson for however is his steady hand with the putter and that is what will see him push hard for top-spot again here. Putting is all important, and although the layout of the course has changed here and there, that statement remains as true as ever.

Punters looking to follow us in with a bet on Lefty will find his price most appealing, with Coral giving out 28/1.Each-way players get a fantastic 1/5 the odds a place 1-2-3-4-5-6-7. If you rather a bit more of a cushion, a top-10 ending is yours at 5/2.
