Wenger is in big trouble

Arsene Wenger’s time has been running out with some fans for years, but Saturday’s hammering at the hands of Chelsea was the final nail in the coffin of the gaffer for others. Beaten so soundly by the league leaders, Arsenal are now fourth in the table, behind bitter rivals Tottenham and Man City. They also have a fight on their hands for Champions League football next season, with just two points between themselves and Man Utd in sixth.

Rangers fans have had enough

It was sold as a season when they would be going for 55, but Rangers are now third in the Scottish Premiership, 27 points behind champions-in-waiting Celtic. Fans knew winning the league was a big ask, but the pre-season aim was surely to finish in the top-two and be competitive about it. Manager Mark Warburton has achieved neither so far, and many Bears want him out. Ibrox had a lot of empty seats on Saturday, as the support chose to make their feelings clear.

Everton are contenders

They scoffed when we put up a feature on the Coral site asking if Everton could finish in the top-four, surely the same football judges who said Leicester wouldn’t win the Premier League last season and Chris Eubank Jnr would never win a world title. (OK, the last one was taking it too far). But we are onto something and The Toffees beat Bournemouth 6-3 to extend their unbeaten run to seven. They are now seven points off a stuttering Arsenal.

Alan Shearer recently caught up with Rafael Benitez and says the Spaniard is loving life in Newcastle.

Magpies not giving up

Newcastle moved back to the top of the Championship as the pre-season favourites for the title ground out a win vs Derby. Nearest rivals Brighton were hammered on Thursday by Huddersfield and drew with Brentford on Sunday. The Seagulls are now feeling the pace, as Newcastle prove that they have the belly for a fight.

Sunderland aren’t done yet

The Black Cats still have a few lives left in them and they boosted their chances of beating relegation with a stunning win over Crystal Palace on Saturday. Goals from Kone, Ndong and a Defoe double gave them a surprise 4-0 win over fellow strugglers Palace, and they now have just two points to find to match the pace of Swansea and safety.
