We’ve picked a plucky eight-fold on Tuesday

There’s plenty for football punters to be getting on with in midweek, and although we see a break in the UEFA competitions, there’s action from domestic leagues in England and Scotland worth a look.

No doubt about where the highlight goes, as first plays second in the Championship. We are taking sides in that mammoth tie, and you can view each of our legs below. Every £1 down pays £274.26, if we are on the mark, while prices and returns mentioned are correct at the time of writing.

Newcastle beat Brighton

The Magpies have made a bit of a meal of this title charge, but they remain bang in the hunt to go to the Premier League as champions. Benitez and his boys have played some of their best football away from the pressures of St James Park, and they are overpriced at Coral’s 2/1.

Derby beat Blackburn

Sticking with the Championship and it’s easy to oppose Blackburn Rovers in their current shape. They have won just two of their last 10 and are second-bottom of the table. Tony Mowbray takes charge of his first home game, but must make do without Hope Akpan, Corry Evans and Gordon Greer. 11/8 looks value.

Bradford beat MK Dons

Dons are an improving side since Robbie Neilson took over, but they go into this one losing two and drawing one of their last four. Bradford seem to be getting their act together, and have lost just one of their last seven, beating Port Vale last time. Evens is our price.

Bolton beat Bristol Rovers

The Trotters have it all to do if they want to get up to the Championship without the need for the play-offs. They are just three points off the top-two however, with a game in hand over Scunthorpe. Bolton look to have been given a perfect opportunity to win here, with Coral trading 11/10.

Scunthorpe beat AFC Wimbledon

Scunthorpe have let themselves down of late, and are now seven points off leaders Sheffield United, with Fleetwood level on points in third. The presence of The Trawlermen should spark them back to life however, and they must get serious if they want promotion. AFC seem to have run their race this season, and evens does a shift.

Portsmouth vs Morecambe

Pompey are another side that really need to get a move on if they want to extend their season. Consistency is key at this time of year, but they do go in unbeaten in four – three wins and a draw – and are hot favourites at 3/10 to bag the spoils.

Doncaster beat Cambridge United

Donny choked when things got serious, and really should have been home and hosed by now. Draws have held them back, but I am giving them another chance as Coral’s 27/20 looks a tad harsh to me. They have not forgotten how to win.

Aberdeen beat Hamilton

The Dons have opened up a gap over Rangers in the race for second, and now just need to avoid disaster if they want to hold their position from last season. It doesn’t pay to oppose Aberdeen just now, and we have them backed at 1/2.
