2017 BDO World Championship men’s semis and women’s final preview
Maiden world title in Durrant’s sights
Just six players across both the men and women’s 2017 BDO World Championships remain, and Saturday sees two semis and a final in the respective events.
A total of three of the top four seeds have made it through to this stage in the latter, with 2015 champion Scott Mitchell being the exception.
Neither of semi-finalists Darryl Fitton, Danny Noppert, Glen Durrant or Jamie Hughes have claimed this trophy before, but Duzza is the 11/10 favourite with Coral to do so.
Meanwhile, in the women’s draw, world number one Lisa Ashton takes on surprise finalist Corrine Hammond in attempt to lift her third world title.
Read on to check out our 2017 BDO World Championship men’s semis and women’s final preview…
2017 BDO Worlds women’s final
Lisa v Corrine Hammond

Lisa Ashton is favourite to win a third World Championship this year.
Ashton and Hammond start the day with their final showdown, and the former is heavily odds-on at 1/8 to land a treble of BDO Worlds titles.
The Lancashire Rose has been in top form this tournament, averaging over 80 in all of three of her matches so far – more than a lot of the men.
She’s beaten Hammond (5/1 chance) in all four of their meetings this year, but the Australian claimed a leg at least in each of those.
Why not back six-time Ashton, therefore, at 11/5 to win 3-1 in sets?

Fitton (11/4) and Noppert (2/7) follow the women onto the Lakeside oche in the afternoon session, in another potential one-sided affair.
Noppy has been the outstanding player of the tournament so far, being the only arrowsmith at this stage to average over 90 in all three of his matches.
The Dutchman also has the highest average of 98.06, and knocked out defending champion Scott Waites in the last round 5-3.
Noppert has beaten veteran Fitton, who is aiming to reach his first final here, in two of their three previous battles. He won the last two too, and is a tasty 6/4 price for victory with a -3.5 set handicap in the first-to-six match.
Glen Durrant v Jamie Hughes

Finally, BDO world number one Durrant (4/11) and number four seed Hughes (11/5) lock horns in the evening session.
Duzza has been so dominant this year in the BDO, that it is said he is considering crossing over to the PDC, but he’ll be desperate to claim his first world title after claiming two of the three majors this year so far.
Although he’s not been at his best this event, Durrant showed such grit a determination to come from three sets and two legs down against Paul Hogan in the second round to win 4-3.
He then knocked out Darius Labanauskas in the quarters, but will need to up his game and average against another potential future PDC convert Hughes.
Thankfully for Durrant, he’s won each of the last eight duels with fellow Englishman Yozza, including in the recent Zuiderduin Masters final 5-3.
Back Middlesbrough native Duzza, therefore, at 5/1 to win 6-4 on this occasion.
