During Liverpool’s recent 2-0 EFL Cup quarter-final victory over Leeds United, Ben Woodburn overtook Michael Owen as the Merseyside club’s youngest ever goalscorer with his second-half strike.

The win at Anfield saw the Reds reach the League Cup semi-finals for the third straight season and, under the guidance of German coach Jurgen Klopp, they are 7/4 favourites with Coral to lift the trophy next year.

Ben Woodburn (Liverpool)
At just 17 years and 45 days Woodburn overtook former Anfield striker Owen as the club’s youngest ever scorer, breaking the long-standing record by 98 days as the latter watched on from the stands.
The talented teenager only made his senior debut in the previous Premier League meeting against Sunderland and will no doubt be held in high regard for the future on the red half of Merseyside.
Federico Macheda (Manchester United)
Italian frontman Macheda provided Manchester United fans with one of the most memorable moments in recent history in April 2009, as he was introduced by Sir Alex Ferguson and netted a title saving goal.
At 17 years, seven months and 15 days old, the youngster curled home a dramatic winner over Aston Villa to become the club youngest ever marksman. His strike saw the Red Devils edge ahead of Liverpool and eventually clinched the title, though he has fallen from grace since in his career.
Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)
Former Arsenal midfielder Fabregas broke the club’s record for youngest goalscorer by nine months as a 16-year-old in 2003, as he tucked home at Highbury from a Sylvain Wiltord delivery.
The current Chelsea misfit helped the Gunners earn a comfortable 5-1 success over Wolves in the League Cup in that outing before an impressive career in London and eventual move to Barcelona.
Jack Aitchison (Celtic)
At only 16 years and 71 days old, Scottish forward Aitchison secured his place in Celtic history by becoming their youngest ever scorer in a 7-0 Premiership win over Motherwell in May 2016.
Ian Hamilton (Chelsea)
Chelsea’s most youthful scorer in history was crowned in March 1967 when Hamilton dispatched in a London derby against Tottenham at 16 years and 138 days old. This, of course, took place during the time of the old First Division for the Blues.
Alberto Rivera (Real Madrid)
Back in June 1995, Spaniard Rivera found the target in a La Liga clash against Celta de Vigo for Real Madrid, dispatching at just 17 years and 114 days old to become their youngest ever successful scorer.
Although, that turned out to be the highest point of his time with Los Blancos as he made just three senior league appearances, eventually going on to feature for all of Numancia, Levante, Betis, Sporting de Gijon and Elche.
Paulino Alcantara (Barcelona)
Spanish Filipino Alcantara made his debut for Barcelona at just 15 years of age and went on to enjoy a successful spell at the Nou Camp, scoring 369 goals in 357 official and friendly matches, a club record that stood for 87 years.
The striker represented both Catalonia and Spain as well before managing the two national sides, and he still holds the record for being Barca’s youngest ever scorer at 15 years, 4 months and 18 days.
Gianni Rivera (AC Milan)
AC Milan legend Rivera was dubbed ‘the Golden Boy’ by the media during his time at the San Siro in the 1960s, and the Italian is the Rossoneri’s youngest ever marksman at 17 years and 80 days.
He secured his slice of history against Juventus back in 1960 and also went on to lift three league titles and two European Cup crowns.
Bartholomew Ogbeche (PSG)
Over to France next and capital club PSG saw Nigerian forward Ogbeche become their youngest ever goalscorer back in November 2001 when dispatching past Nantes in a Ligue 1 match-up.
His strike came at the age of 17 years and 55 days, with the African attacker going on to also feature for Middlesbrough and current Dutch outfit Willem II.
Clarence Seedorf (Ajax)
Legendary central midfielder Seedorf completes our list of youngest goalscorers from 10 top European clubs, with the former Ajax, AC Milan and Real Madrid star being one of the most decorated Dutch platers ever.
The 40-year-old is currently managing China League One team Shenzhen FC but holds the record of youngester scorer at Dutch giants Ajax, having struck back in March 1993 at the age of 16 years and 361 days in a 2-2 draw with Vitesse.
