Calzaghe value to lift All England Cup

Coral’s experts provide their best bets for an outstanding Open race card at Newcastle on Sky Sports 2 featuring the final of the All England Cup.

Calzaghe Billy can deliver knockout blow in All England Cup Final

The final of the All England Cup (21:08) is the feature race on a cracking Open race card at Newcastle tonight on Sky Sports 2 and T4 Calagzhe Billy looks decent value to land the spoils.

John Thompson’s charge has won four of his six races at that track and is 1-1 when sporting the black jacket.

He showed tremendous battling qualities to come from off the pace in the semis five days ago and get up close home to beat Droopys Five by 3/4 of a length and this race could well be run to suit.

With the line-up consisting of a whole host of early paced dogs, and the favourite T6 Oscar Whisky having far from an ideal draw on the outside of the unpredictable T5 Ballymac Darragh who has ruined the last two races he has run in by slamming on the breaks at first bend, there is a possibility of all sorts of trouble.

That could set it up lovely for a closer like Calzaghe Billy and if turning handy he can pick up the pieces and power clear to land the £10k first prize.

Win machine Walshes Hill to go in again

T4 Walshes Hill has a tremendous record at the track and can further enhance it with victory in the 290m Sprint (19:43).

Jimmy Wright’s son of Zero Ten has won eight of his 10 starts at the venue and is unbeaten in four from tonight’s draw.

He comes into the contest on the back five straight successes and was most impressive in the last of those when making all to land the final of the Scurry Cup at Belle Vue.

Walshes Hill has awesome early pace and if breaking in his best fashion can quickly get on the bunny to establish a race winning lead to show why he is the best sprinter around.

Pinpoint Den worth a punt

T4 Pinpoint Den has some top class form to his name and rates the best bet on the card in the Terry Meynell Memorial Trophy Standard (19:59).

Kelly Macari’s dog showed what he is capable of when flashing from the lids to land an all the way three length success over Tynwald Baz in the final of the Steel City Cup at Sheffield last month.

He then moved well in two trials at this venue but got no luck in-running whatsover when fourth in the heats of the All England Cup when the winner Ballymac Darragh caused all sorts of mayhem.

However, Pinpoint Den did produce a good sectional of 4.67 and a similar break should be more than good enough to see him lead-up in this less competitive affair and play catch-me-if-you-can.

Sidarian Riva drawn to deliver in Oaks Final

T6 Sidarian Riva can capitalise and what looks a nice draw to get back to winning ways in the Angel Of The North Oaks Final (20:16).

Charlie Lister’s bitch got picked up late on in the heats and beaten a short-head by T1 Some Women after producing a lightning split of 4.64.

It was a cracking effort on her first run at the venue and the daughter of Vans Escalade is entitled to improve for the sighter.

With T1 Some Woman and the favourite T2 Domino Storm closely matched in the early pace stakes, there is a possibility of crowding on the inside and as the sole wide seed in the line-up Sidarian Riva looks ideally house in the stripes to capitalise and sweep around the first bend in front to register an all the way success.
