Millwards Master to sizzle Summer Cup heat
There is an excellent 13-race Open card at Romford on Racing Post Greyhound TV tonight (Sky 468, Freesat 250) and T3 Millwards Master looks cracking value to land the first heat of the Doug Tyler Summer Cup (21:40).
Paul Young’s dog has some top class form to his name and been victorious on eight occasions from 32 starts at the venue.
Although beaten 2 3/4 lengths when runner-up to Fivestar Clipper seven days ago, the son of Hondo Black ran on well from Trap 2 after a bump at the first and lost little in defeat.
He is also entitled to strip fitter for that outing, his second competitive start following a break, and now sports the white jacket from which he has a 33 per cent strike rate over course and distance (three wins from nine).
That may well enable him to get a clear run to the bend and if turning handy and countering the early moves of Clipper he will then be in a great position to kick in the turbo mid-race.
Sign Emily to show rivals the way home
T6 Sign Emily is right at the top of her game at present and looks drawn to attack in the Bitches Final (21:24).
Spencer Mavrias’ charge has won her last two starts at the track and was particularly impressive in last week’s heat for this when flying from the traps and producing a 3.68 sectional to make all and score by 4 1/4 lengths in a time of 24.15.
That was 2 1/2 lengths quicker than the other heat won by Saffron’s Anna and, with a slow start on her inside, Sign Emily is once again ideally housed in the stripes to ping and capitalise on any inside jostling for a trap-to-line success.
Swift set to Glow again
In heat two of the Doug Tyler Sunmmer Cup (21:56), Coral’s experts are very sweet on the chances of Swift Glow.
Kevin Hutton’s pup has a progressive profile and comes into the contest on the back of two wide margin successes at Henlow.
In the last of those he was quickly away and surged clear to slam Westmead Michel by 7 1/2 lengths and it was a performance which suggested the son of Paradise Madison was a young stayer going places who needed keeping firmly onside.
He again has a good draw from which to operate and if turning the first bend unscathed is going to be hard to contain.
Nissan quickly in the driving seat
T4 Droopys Nissan scored in sensational style over course and distance seven days ago and rates a solid bet to follow-up in the 400m Standard (22:26).
Frank Gray’s charge made all to slam the re-opposing Droopys Cairns by eight lengths and has now won his last two start at the venue by an average of just under seven lengths.
The son of Yeah Man is blessed with bags of early pace and looks nicely housed on the inside of T5 Never Your Fault.
If leading that rival to the bend and getting on the bunny, Droopys Nissan looks nailed on to prevail.
Romford best bets
21:24 T6 Sign Emily
21:40 T3 Millwards Master (NAP)
21:56 T6 Swift Glow
22:26 T4 Droopys Nissan (NB)
