Metro can be quickly in the driving seat at Romford

There is a 12-race Graded card at Romford tonight on Racing Post Greyhound TV (Sky 468, Freesat 250) and T5 Metro Buddy rates the standout bet in the A2 at 21:06.

Margaret Lucas’s dog is four from eleven in the grade and five from 16 when sporting the orange jacket.

The son of Crash is also blessed with tons of early pace, as he showed when clocking a 3.62 sectional to score by 1 1/4 lengths four starts back in a time of 24.33.

That reads very well in the context of this contest, and a similar break would be more than good enough to see Metro Buddy turn the first bend in front.

If doing so he should be able to quickly put distance between himself and his rivals for a trap-to-line success.

Billhilly Fizz drawn for action

T1 Billhilly Fizz looks drawn to attack and decent value to get back to winning ways in the other A2 on the card (21:40).

David Mullins’ charge notched his last success in the grade when showing early pace before running on strongly to score by 3 1/2 lengths back in June.

He has since run well to finish runner-up in two A1 contests, and shaped better than the bare result suggests last time out when finishing fifth, after getting badly bumped on more than one occasion.

With a slow start on his outside, Billhilly Fizz has every chance of leading if pinging the lids and once on the bunny is a strong running and tenacious sort who is tough to pass.

Sonny Da Boy can grind out victory

In the 400m inter-track contest (21.56), T2 Sonny Da Boy can put his track knowledge to good effect to land the spoils for the home team.

The Ernie Gaskin trained son of Kinloch Brae is not the quickest of starters but is two from five when wearing the blue jacket and a really strong sort when getting a clear run.

Sonny Da Boy is also drawn between two Hove raiders and that may well enable him to break better and boss the inside.

If he can do that and turn handy it will be all to play for and, if within striking distance, turning for home Sonny can prove too strong for his rivals.

Annie holds all the aces

Gaskin looks to hold leading claims of landing a quick-fire double with T2 Balboa Annie in the A1 at 10:11.

The daughter of Ballymac Vic is three from five in the grade and ran a blinder last time out when clocking a 3.76 sectional to lead until getting collared close to home and beaten by just a neck.

That was Balboa Annie’s second run back from a break and she is entitled to come on a bundle for it.

Another plus is that she is drawn between two slow starters and, with the possibility of the closely matched Traps 5 and 6 coming together at the first bend, this looks a good opportunity for Annie to smash out and make all.
