Golden chance at Romford for class-dropping El Greco

There’s a competitive graded card at Romford on Racing Post Greyhound TV tonight (Sky 468, Freesat 250) and T2 El Greco rates the standout bet in the A2 at 21:06 now eased in grade.

Paul Young’s bitch ran as well as could be expected when a 5 3/4 length runner-up to the classy Evanta Fantasy, in an Open at the track four starts back, and lost little in defeat six days ago when showing early pace and sticking to the task well to finish a 1 3/4 lenth runner-up in an A1.

Those runs represent strong form in the context of this lower grade affair, and El Greco’s last two successes have come in A2 company.

The daughter of Kinloch Brae also has a 25 per cent strike rate when sporting the blue jacket and looks ideally drawn to ping out and grab the rails for an all the way success.

Zeeoneandonly the one to be on

In the A1 (21:40), T3 Zeeoneandonly looks decent value to land the spoils. Ernie Gaskin’s youngster has only had five starts at the track and has quickly risen through the ranks.

After opening her account in an A4, the daughter of Vans Escalade showed blistering early pace to make all and follow-up in an A3 by 4 1/4 lengths.

It was an impressive display, and Zeeoneandonly can be forgiven her last run in this grade when completely fluffing the start and getting baulked before finishing fourth.

She had previously clocked a decent sectional of 3.78 and, with Trap 2 Bibbys Legend cutting in at the first bend, a repeat can see her steer a straight course down the middle for a trap-to-line victory.

Knockboy Wing fancied to fly home

T5 Knockboy Wing has a teriffic strike rate at the track and can further enhance it with victory in the 400m inter-track contest (21:56).

The son of Scolari Me Daddy has won nine of his 23 starts at the venue and has a near 33 per cent strike rate when wearing the orange jacket.

Although Knockboy Wing has been running over 575m of late, the drop back in trip will hold no fears and he has produced sectionals of 3.74 and 3.76 in his last two successes over it.

Those splits read very well in the make-up of this race and, if turning in front, Knockboy is going to be incredibly tough to peg back given his staying power.

Special Trixie ticks plenty of boxes

T6 Special Trixie is a smart sort when timing it right at the lids and can get the better of an early tussle with kennelmate Black Taranis to land the other A1 on the card (22:11).

Ernie Gaskin’s bitch is 10 from 34 in the stripes and scored in good style two starts back, when quickly away and producing a 3.70 sectional to make all and beat Wednesday Adams by 2 3/4 lengths.

She also showed plenty of dash next time up, before finishing third, and has since been given a trial at Crayford.

That may well have sharpened her up and, if Special Trixie can turn in front of Taranis in Trap 5, she is going to take plenty of catching.
