In-form Genie can sizzle in Summer Cup Final

There is an excellent 13-race Open card at Romford tonight on Racing Post Greyhound TV (Sky 468, Freesat 250) and T1 Borna Genie looks cracking value in the Doug Tyler Summer Cup Final at 21:24.

They say to follow a bitch in form and Jim Reynolds’ daughter of Timor Blue is running out of her skin at present.

She has won four of her last five start over course and distance and was particularly impressive in the last of those seven days ago when coming from a different parish to pick up the trailblazing Bubbly Torpedo.

Although not the quickest from the boxes, Borna Genie has excellent track craft and picks up the pace from halfway before delivering a power packed finish.

She also has a 25 per cent strike rate from the red jacket and can tun in a handy enough pitch before coming with her customary late challenge.

Cambs to collect again

In the Standard at 21:40, T4 Droopys Cambs looks to hold outstanding claims of land the hat-trick.

Paul Young’s dog has really found his trapping boots of late and comes into the race having produced slick sectionals to make all over course and distance in his last two starts.

He has also won two of his three starts when wearing the black jacket and with a reserve on his inside having his first run at the track looks ideally drawn on to ping out and make all for another trap-to-line success.

Present looks a gift in Stayers contest

T1 Johns Present is a class act when getting on the bunny and looks drawn to do just that in the Coral Supports The RGOA Stayers (22:26).

Young’s charge produced a lightning 13.51 sectional to clock a time of 35.58 when winning at the track last month and that sets a clear standard in this line-up.

Johns Present also ran very well on his penultimate start when getting picked up late by Borna Genie and this represents a slight drop in class.

With a slow starter on his outside, a slick break can see the son of Barefoot Bolt boss the inside and quickly establish a winning lead.

Whirlwind can leave rivals in a spin

In the Coral Home Of The Price Bomb Stayers which brings proceeding to a close (22:40), T5 Swift Whirlwind is strongly fancied to land the spoils.

Mark Wallis’s dog has some top class form to his name and has won eight of his 19 starts at the venue.

The son of Kinloch Brae is capable of some very fast breaks and is a real tough nut to crack when turning the first bend in front.

He also comes into the contest in good form having won two of his last three starts and if beating T6 Newlawn Ned to the punch is going to be hard to catch.

Romford best bets

21:24 T1 Borna Genie (NAP)
21:40 T4 Droopys Cambs
22:26 T1 Johns Present (NB)
22:40 T5 Swift Whirlwind
