Droopys Cairns the best bet at Romford
There is a cracking 13-race Open card at Romford tonight on Racing Post Greyhound TV (Live Sky 468, Freesat 250) and T6 Droopys Cairns rates the standout bet in the Coral Supports The RGOA Standard at 22:11.
Paul Young’s dog is one from four in Opens at the venue and that success came when sporting the stripes.
Although not a prolific winner he has some blistering trials to his name, producing a 3.84 split and time of 24.15 in the latest three days ago.
A reproduction of that would be more than good enough to land the spoils in this line-up, and as the sole wide seed the son of Tubbertelly Dubha has a peach of a draw to work from.
With Traps 1 and 2 closely matched on the inside there every chance of jostling and Droopys Cairns can take advantage to turn the first bend in front and power clear.
Cambs drawn to attack in Sprint
In the Visit Coral.co.uk Sprint (19:31), T6 Droopys Cambs looks decent value to land the spoils.
The son of Central City has developed into a useful performer over the standard 400m trip and has shown enough early pace in the process to suggest the drop back to 225m will not be a hindrance.
I think he is capable of clearing T5 Dance Costa and with T4 Canvas Costa sure to be heading straight for the rails there is a distinct possibility of crowding on the inside.
If that proves to be the case then Droopys Cambs is going to be very difficult to pick-up if getting on the bunny.
Wizard can extend winning spell
T1 Toot Hill Wizard is running out of his skin at present and can complete the hat-trick in the Coral Supports The RGOA Standard (22:26).
Phil Simmonds’ dog has won his last two starts over course and distance, showing bags of early pace on both occasions to make all.
In the last of those he showed tremendous tenacity when challenged to beat Never Your Fault by a short-head.
He also had that rival behind him in his previous success and I see no real reason on the draw why Toot Hill Wizard should not confirm the form.
The son of Kiloch Brae is the sole railer in the line-up, and with two middles and three wides to his right should get a lovely solo to the first bend.
Rubys Rascal tough to beat in finale
In the Coral Supports The RGOA Standard that closes proceedings (22:40), T1 Rubys Rascal looks a worthy favourite to make a successful transition to six bends.
Mark Wallis’ dog has some smart form to his name at Towcester where he has often been doing his best work at the finish.
He looks potentially a cut-above his rivals and if turning handy can kick in the turbo mid-race to power to glory.
