Droopys Zap to zoom to success

Droopys Zap ran a stormer when runner-up last time out and can go one better to land the 400m Maiden Open (20:02) on this evening’s card at Romford (Live on Sky 468, Freesat 250).

The Danny Mullins trained bitch showed bags of early pace before going down by just a length to the promising Droopys Cambs, with the pair pulling 3 3/4 lengths clear of the field.

It was an effort which suggested she was well up to winning a race of this nature, and Droopys Zap is two from five at the track from Trap 1 so looks ideally housed in the red jacket to lead at the first corner and put the race quickly to bed.

Ring ready to rock

T1 Droopys Ring has a progressive profile and rates a solid bet in the Coral Connect Card Puppies Open (20:50).

Paul Youngs’ daughter of Tullmurry Act showed what she is capable of when producing a 3.81 sectional and romping a 5 1/2 length success at the track in April in a winning time of 24.08.

She also ran really well last week when runner-up after being slowly away and finishing strongly, and should be able to beat T2 Always Thirsty to the bend before putting her back straight pace to maximum use.

Boyneviewfantasy the one to beat in Final

In the 575m Maiden Stayers Final (21.06), T4 Boyneviewfantasy ticks all the right boxes following an impressive demolition job in the qualifying heat.

Phil Simmonds’ dog produced a lightning 13.57 sectional to lead from trap to line and score by 4 3/4 lengths in a time of 35.74.

That was just fractionally slower than the 35.70 produced by T3 Tyrur Serena, but Boyneviewfantasy was almost two lengths quicker to the opening bend than that rival and can make his early pace tell to land the spoils.

Bubbly Zeus can get champagne corks popping

T2 Bubbly Zeus would be a popular and appropriate winner of the Champagne Club 30th Anniversary Race over 400m at 22:11 and I fancy him to do the business.

Greyhound Racing at Wimbledon

Paul Youngs’ son of Kinloch Brae is owned by the sponsors and although he has had his setbacks is a real pacey sort when on-song.

Bubbly Zeus has a slow starter on his inside in the shape of Droops Mazda, and should be able to clear that rival and get himself into a good pitch before hopefully going through the gears in mid race.

Ballymac Victor can send backers home happy

T3 Ballymac Victor has an impressive strike rate at the track and can further enhance it with victory in the 575m Stayers Open which brings proceedings to a close (22:40).

Frank Gray’s dog has won five on his nine start at the venue in the Opens, and is also three from five from the white jacket.

Those are impressive stats, and Ballymac Victor comes into the contest having taken the scalp of the classy Rio San Marino at the track seven days ago.

A repeat of that run should be good enough to see him follow-up.
