To celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday, Coral have produced an in-depth infographic marking the highlights of some of the biggest Royal gambles since she was born, and incidentally when Coral was founded, in 1926.

From taking bets on what her name would be after her birth on April 21st all those years ago to the Queen’s Speech in 2015 being the most watched Christmas TV programme, betting on the Royal Family has proved to be the most popular non-sport event for punters.

We want our loyal customers to profit on such a momentous occasion, in which she is the second-longest current reigning monarch – behind just King Rama of Thailand – at over 64 years, so we are currently offering a number of Royal Specials.

Odds such as the colour of the Queen’s hat at her 90th birthday, in which blue is the 4/1 favourite, and whether Prince William and Kate Middleton will have twins (20/1) or triplets (150/1) after reports suggest at least a third child is on the way are available on our site.

Everyone loves being patriotic and what better way to show for it by having a gamble on the Royal Family? Let us also remind you of other bets Coral have put on offer over the years…

According to the archives, the bookies correctly predicted that Elizabeth would be the name of our current monarch when she was born, being the favourite at 2/1, ahead of Victoria, Mary and Alexandra.

Skipping through the years, after it was announced that Elizabeth fell in love with a young Cadet Captain of Greece named Philip, odds were once again on offer. On July 22nd 1939, just before the outbreak of World War II, bookies took bets on what year they would marry, while on their engagement in 1947, we offered odds on their wedding date and how many children they would have.

Coral have even offered more niche markets, such as the weight of Prince Charles before he was born on November 14th 1948.

We have offered odds on her other children and grandchildren, and previous big birthdays in the past too, such as her 80th in 2006.

Coral’s own spokesperson Nicola McGeady had these words to say: “The news agenda has a big impact on what we talk about and how we bet and the royal family is never too far away from the headlines. In the last 90 years the British public have bet on royal births, marriages, hat colours, heirs to the throne, abdications and even Harry’s beard!”

“There are plenty of punters who believe they can beat the bookies when it comes to betting on the Royal Family. Big bets in the Windsor area tend to be spot on and in the last 90 years there have been occasions when we’ve suspended betting when unusual patterns arise in the area.”
