Coral’s cracking darts Masters outright odds

Calling all arrowsmith addicts! The upcoming darts Masters, which runs from the January 30th-31st, brings tungsten drama back to our TV screens and brilliantly bookends a majestic month, which began with the crowing of Gary Anderson as world champion once again.

Who will be celebrating next? Coral present a host of excellent outright odds for the 2016 Masters winner, to celebrate this sport which frequently turns ordinary builders, tilers and postmen into global superstars.

Michael van Gerwen

Bruised by his 2016 PDC World Darts Championship exit to compatriot Raymond van Barneveld, Van Gerwen is a wounded lion that should prove vicious when next prodded, as he warms up for February’s Premier League Darts.

With this coveted competition the perfect palate cleanser between the bigger tournaments, the Green Machine has the perfect platform on which to reinforce his world number one ranking, and is unlikely to let go of his grasp on glory so easily.

Gary Anderson

A generous 3/1 to take this title for the first time, Anderson is an excellent choice if you are seeking to back a fresh face for victory. Still reeling from his 170 checkout to rule the world and a televised nine-darter at the Ally Pally, the Scot is certainly in top form.

Speaking just over the festive season, Anderson also told press of his form: “I said to myself after getting past the first round, just to enjoy it. I am scoring well.

“This year has been absolutely brilliant, although it has just about killed me being on the road all of the time.”

Adrian Lewis

At a stupendous 7/1, Jackpot can run the gauntlet here, having finished as runner up here before and is up against an out-of-form Kim Huybrechts first, which should help him get up and running at the Arena:MK.

Phil Taylor

A poor Worlds finished off a mixed bag of a year for the legendary English arrowsmith, but whispers of retirement and being a faded force are far from true, as undoubted flashes of greatness have still been on show. Class is permanent as they say.

With the chance to avenge his recent woeful Ally Pally exit against repeat opponent Jelle Klaasen, the former winner of this event may just make a few naysayers look like mugs yet.

James Wade

While The Machine certainly malfunctioned against Anderson at the recent Worlds, that is not his usual style and he knows what it takes to claim this tournament. A winner of majors before, Wade has a significant advantage over his aforementioned peers, so punters may want to consider him first for a Masters flutter.

Raymond van Barneveld

Perhaps not to be classed as a favourite way back at 28/1 in pricing, though he should be, having reached the last final here. Considering Barney’s recent heroics too, he is really not so much of a dark horse and could well be worth a ‘gamble’ at such outsider odds.

“To me it’s winning or nothing”, Van Barneveld said of his eventual World Championship exit, showing his fire has truly been reignited.

“Apart from some price money you’ve got just empty hands and you have to wait another year. I tried to be the world champion and really believed I could do it,” added the tigerish tungsten fan favourite. Certainly food for thought.
