Seagulls to swoop for points
Brighton and Hove Albion journey to capital club QPR’s Loftus Road patch in a position of power, two points clear at the Championship summit and seeking to extend their lead by triumphing in this Tuesday tussle, which the coastal side are 18/5 to do.
The Seagulls have been flying this season, and are the only team in England’s second-tier still unbeaten, though this impressive record does include a hefty number of nine draws, for which the Amex Stadium outfit are joint-top in the Championship.
As both sides split respective league spoils last time out, and have ended evenly in their past three Loftus Road rumbles, a repeat outcome is more than tempting at 21/10, though recent shake-ups within the visitors’ strikeforce could tip the balance.
Hoops home advantage under Hasselbaink
New QPR coach Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is still getting into the groove of his new dug-out digs, as his bow at Loftus Road was something of a damp squib, with his boys drawing blanks.
Still, this is only the former Leeds United legend’s second game in the hot-seat and the hosts are 13/8 to pick up three points for their new boss in his second attempt at a home win. In the Hoops’ favour is that of all their six Championship defeats this term, five have occurred on the road.
While, Brighton have not bagged an away win since an October outing at Elland Road, with their previous four trips resulting in as many points.
Wilson adding sting to Seagulls
Brighton recently nipped any qualms about attacking depth firmly in the bud by snatching Manchester United striking starlet James Wilson on loan, and so far the speedy sharpshooter has been a sensation, reigniting the seaside team up top.
Rapid Wilson has struck two goals in as many starts, showing sublime skill and pace to first dance into the box and poach against Charlton Athletic, before clinically dispatching a deadly volley past Derby County.
So, punters can plump for this freshest of Seagulls predators at 7/1 to open the scoring for the third game in succession, or at 2/1 to nab his first away goal anytime. Alternatively, veteran striker Bobby Zamora has also dispatched of late and is 6/4 in the same market.
Speaking of his blossoming understanding with Zamora, Wilson, rumoured to be set to be recalled by the Red Devils, said: “Me and Bobby have got a good understanding already. We showed that. We can see that we’ve got a partnership there.
“He’s a great pro, an experienced pro, especially to have him in the dressing room as well as behind you when he is shouting instructions at you.”
As for QPR shouts, Hasselbaink will be hoping hitman Charlie Austin (9/2 to net last) has his shooting boots on, with Matt Phillips and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas also worth a dabble at 7/4 and 15/8 to score anytime respectively.
