Coral’s bet of the day

  • Price is a recent World Matchplay quarter-finalist
  • The Iceman’s rise in the game has been somewhat meteoric
  • Welshman is a former rugby pro and is highly competitive on stage

Price 10/3 to beat Gilding 3-1

For Coral’s next edition of our bet of the day, we have a tasty price to take on what is Christmas Eve Eve (December 23rd) from the ongoing spectacular 2016 PDC World Darts Championship at the Alexandra Palace.

Odds of 10/3 say that Gerwyn Price will beat Andrew Gilding 3-1, on the final night of the first round clashes.

This price is highly tempting given that the Welshman seemingly knows no fear, despite having only been on tour for just under two years, yet has defeated some top names already in that time.

That may be due to the fact that the 30-year-old was a former rugby union and league professional, so throwing three darts at a stationary board that won’t fight back is hardly as scary as going up against giant muscular monsters.

While many take at least a few years to settle themselves in the PDC, even after crossing over from the BDO, Price has taken the sport like a duck to water – or arrowsmith to oche as you were.

Price’s remarkable rise in the game

In fact, he only just missed out on being seeded for this event by one ranking place (he is 33 in the world), though luckily has been drawn with Andrew Gilding (28th).

Goldfinger, as Price’s 45-year-old opponent is nicknamed, is yet to get past the first round of the World Championship; though, like the Welshman is relatively new to the professional game.

This duo have never faced each other before, but Price’s achievements particularly in the latter part of this year, having reached the World Matchplay quarters and Players Championship Finals last 16, have been remarkable.

To get to those stages, he’s had to defeat the likes of former world champions Jelle Klaasen and Adrian Lewis, as well as fellow rising star Michael Smith.

Therefore, a 3-1 win over Gilding seems like the perfect scoreline in the circumstances. So, snap up on this 10/3 price on Price while you can.
