  • Tuesday, November 10th

All still to play for in final group games

The Sunday evening Grand Slam of Darts session produced some magical moments, with golden oldies and BDO legends Martin Adams and Andy Fordham both gaining wins, while Dave Chisnall managed a brilliant nine-darter in his thriller with Peter Wright.

Chizzy is the one star to have confirmed his spot in the second round from Group A-D, but many others have left it until the final round of matches on Tuesday evening where no doubt we are set to witness more drama.

Official tournament betting partner Coral preview the action below in order of play (Groups in brackets)…

Dave Chisnall v Scott Mitchell (D)

Chizzy (1/3) really lit up the tournament with a thrilling nine-darter, the 45th to be televised and which earned him £30k, on the way to averaging a whopping 109.84 in his victory over Wright.

Already-eliminated Mitchell (9/4) is Chisnall’s final group opponent, but BDO world champion Scotty Dog is likely to give it his all in his bid to at least go away with one win.

Ian White v Jelle Klaasen (B)

Although pre-tournament favourite to top this group White lost both of his matches, he still has a slight chance of qualifying if he can beat Klaasen and hope that Adams sees off Beaton.

Darts - Whyte & Mackay Premier League - National Ice Centre - Nottingham

But Diamond (4/5 for victory) has not really shown up to this event, and has lost his last two meetings with The Cobra (evens) so back him to suffer another defeat and therefore exit.

Kim Huybrechts v Mark Oosterhuis (A)

Like Wright, Huybrechts didn’t really do much wrong against Van Gerwen, as he even averaged higher than the Dutchman at 106.50, but a poor 20 per cent checkout rate did eventually cost him.

International Darts Open in Riesa

The Belgian (1/25) faces another man from the Netherlands but, luckily for The Hurricane, Oosterhuis (10/1) has failed to claim a single leg and has managed terrible averages of just 67.63 and 74.54. Huybrechts is 11/8 to beat Potter 5-0 too.

Adrian Lewis v Wayne Jones (C)

Jackpot was shocked by Smith last time out after leading 3-1 to lost 5-3, but is heavily back odds-on at 1/5 to beat win-less Jones (7/2) to make amends to put him on the front foot to qualify.

Lewis

Lewis and Wolverhampton-born The Wanderer have faced each other 20 times, with the latter edging it 12-8, but not since 2011. Jones has lost 5-3 in both fixtures this event so back him to lose by that scoreline once more at 4/1.

Michael van Gerwen v Steve West (A)

Tournament 13/8 favourite Van Gerwen has been in devastating form so far this Grand Slam, losing just one leg after thrashing Oosterhuis 5-0 and then Huybrechts 5-1 to rack up his 10th consecutive group stage win.

Van Gerwen

Westy (11/2 match chance) is his next unfortunate opponent, and Might Mike (1/9) is 7/2 to put him to the slaughter too by giving out another 5-0 whitewash.

Peter Wright v Mervyn King (D)

Snakebite (4/9) didn’t really do much wrong when he faced an inspired Chisnall, but now is involved in a straight shootout to qualify with former great and two-time semi-finalist here King (7/4).

Darts - 2014 William Hill World Darts Championship - Day Eleven - Alexandra Palace

Scotsman Wright has won four of the last five meetings with The King and is a great 22/1 shout to go all the way and lift his first major trophy.

Steve Beaton v Martin Adams (B)

Perhaps the only BDO player in this year’s event who will reach the knockout rounds, Adams has really played like a champion so far after his first two clashes, grinding out wins over White and Klaasen after managing some fantastic finishes.

Darts - 2011 BDO World Professional Darts Championship - Day Nine - Lakeside Complex

Up next for Wolfie (8/13 favourite) is old foe Beaton (6/4), who he last faced way back in 2002. The Bronzed Adonis boats a 4-3 career record over Adams, but it is fair to say the latter has got better with age and so is backed to gain a clean sweep in Group B and finish top.

Michael Smith v Andy Fordham (C)

Fan favourite Fordham gave the Wolverhampton crowd what they were all waiting for, a fantastic performance to beat Jones 5-3 to put himself in contention to qualify for the next stage.

It may be a tough ask for The Viking (10/3) to see off rising star Smith (2/9), but even that wouldn’t guarantee him a place in the second round as he is level on points with Lewis and two behind Bully Boy. But everyone will be willing on Fordham to perform a miracle.

Coral’s top tip: As Van Gerwen has lost only one leg so far this tournament and has already whitewashed Oosterhuis, back him to beat West 5-0 at 7/2
