Owls have it all to do to tame Tigers
Hull City’s parachute payments give them an decided edge over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday, whose fans long to enjoy Premier League football that their opponents were watching as recently as last season.
The Owls are well-priced at 13/8 with Coral to win the match and are on a good run, having won their last three league matches in a row, while they are unbeaten in their last four.
Hull, meanwhile, also haven’t lost in their previous four Championship matches, though it will be a tricky test at Hillsborough. Currently, the hosts are just outside the play-offs and a win could well take them into the top six, level on points with Steve Bruce’s men.
Hull hitman Hernandez a handful
Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez seems to have found form recently and is definitely worth considering at 6/4 in the anytime market. He is the Tigers’ top scorer this term with five goals. Talented striker partner Chuba Akpom, meanwhile, is 6/1 to open the scoring.
Last time the two clubs met, in the 2012/13 season, honours were even with both sides recording away wins; Hull taking a 1-0 victory away from Hillsborough.
Perhaps surprisingly, from their last three wins, the Owls have had completely different scorers, with Keiran Lee, Daniel Prudil and Lewis McGugan each dispatching. While the former and latter are each 5/1 to net anytime, Prudil is 12/1 in the same market.
Atdhe Nuhiu, meanwhile, who is joint-top scorer with McGugan on three this term, is 6/1 to break the deadlock, with strike partner Fernando Forestieri priced at 7/1 in the same market.
Bruce hails “resilience” of Tigers
The Tigers showed some resilience in their last match to nick an away win against Nottingham Forest with Hernandez nicking the only goal and Bruce was upbeat following the game.
“All of a sudden we’re unbeaten in five and showing a bit of resilience which for me, away from home, was missing,” he said. “Certainly today, we can improve – I thought we gave the ball away too cheaply especially in the first half. I’m always demanding better I suppose. We give the ball away in bad areas too often for me and that clouded all the good stuff what we had.”
