Prussian rivals Dortmund and M’gladbach face off in Bundesliga

| 15.08.2015

Near neighbours and Borussia duo Dortmund (4/6 odds-on favourites with Coral to win) and Monchengladbach (15/4) face off in an intriguing first encounter of the 2015/16 Bundesliga season.

Although BVB are by far the current higher profile club out of the Prussian duo, the visitors have had the better recent head-to-head record, losing just once in their last five and winning three of the previous four.

On top of that, Monchengladbach finished way up in third place in the table last season, while the Westfalenstadion team under former boss Jurgen Klopp only managed seventh after a terrible first half of the campaign.

Lucien Favre’s men are 11/10 for another top four finish this term while new Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is odds-on at 1/3 to help guide the club back into the Champions League.

A decent stat in BVB’s favour ahead of this match, though, is that they have only lost one of the last 14 at home against the Foals and will certainly be determined to start better than they did last season. A draw is a tempting 11/4 chance.

Going by history, this fixture has produced some extraordinary results, such as 4-5 in 1965, 7-1 in 1972, amazingly 12-0 in 1978, 6-4 in 1983 and most recently 5-0 to Dortmund in 2012/13. If you fancy there to be over 4.5 goals in this encounter again, then take enticing odds of 5/1.

Tuchel has certainly done well to keep most of his star players such as captain Mats Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan, Sven Bender and Marco Reus for the new season.

DFB Cup - Chemnitzer FC vs Borussia Dortmund

Forward Reus bagged a brace in that 5-0 win three campaigns ago, and he is a tempting 5/1 shout to net two or more again, or 11/8 to score anytime. The Germany international is also part of a Coral match special, with odds available of 5/2 for him to net and Dortmund win (max stake £20).

Other attackers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Shinji Kagawa will also be looking to get goals, and are respective 11/8 and 7/4 chances in the anytime market.

For the visitors, Brazilian forward Raffael Caetano knows how to score against Dortmund, having done so three times in the last two terms, all being wins for his team, and is a great shout at 12/5 to net again anytime.

Summer signing and Swiss striker Josip Drmic, meanwhile, is also a 12/5 chance, and former Chelsea player Thorgan Hazard is priced at 10/3.

Coral’s betting tip – This fixture has a history of producing big scorelines, so take odds of 5/1 for there to be over 4.5 goals.
