Coral’s rumour reel: Panic buys galore on transfer deadline eve

Tis the day before the English summer transfer window 6pm deadline, and many a club as always are still in the hunt for top talent to bolster their squad before the curtain comes down. But how many of the below would turn out to be simply panic buys if they come off?

We start off with a report from Italy, that Premier League champions Chelsea (11/2 with Coral to defend the title) are in talks with Italian counterparts Juventus over the sale of Paul Pogba.

It is said that the west Londoners are readying a mammoth world record £87.5m bid for the former French Manchester United midfielder; perhaps in an attempt to make fans forget about their woeful season start?

Speaking of the Red Devils and France, reports in that country suggest that the English giants could also be set to make a ridiculous £36.3m bid for teenage Monaco forward Anthony Martial, dubbed the new Thierry Henry.

Other sources suggest that QPR’s Charlie Austin, though, could be on his way to Old Trafford as his odds with Coral to make the move have been cut to an odds-on price of 2/5.

Any striker that comes in before the Tuesday 6pm deadline could be a replacement for Javier Hernandez, who is set to join Bayer Leverkusen after failing to impress Louis van Gaal since his return from Real Madrid.

One Los Blancos star that could be on Man Utd’s books for the 2015/16 season, however, is Costa Rica keeper Keylor Navas. That is only if the two clubs can agree a swap deal involving David de Gea too.

It is said that Navas is keen on staying at the Bernabeu, though, which could ultimately destroy any chance of the Spaniard returning to Madrid. La Liga’s transfer window shuts on Monday night at 12am, as they don’t have a Bank Holiday.

Elsewhere, it is highly expected that Chelsea attacker Victor Moses is to join London rivals West Ham United, for what would be his third loan spell since joining the Blues.

Up in Scotland, meanwhile, Celtic’s Virgil van Dijk is finally set to join Dutch compatriot Ronald Koeman at Southampton for £11m, with the Hoops lining up £4m-rated Jozo Simunovic as a replacement.

The Croatian would have to battle out with other defensive summer signings Dedryck Boyata and Man Utd loanee Tyler Blackett.

Finally, it looks as though 4/1 top six chances Everton will be able to hold onto Chelsea target John Stones at least until Christmas, but can they prevent right back Seamus Coleman from being lured to European giants PSG or Bayern Munich?
