Championship: Leeds United welcome relegated Burnley to Elland Road

The last time these two teams played each other in the Championship, Burnley won 2-1 twice and as such are 9/1 with Coral to repeat this scoreline again.

Leeds are outsiders at 15/8 and have a relatively new-look side for this season after what could turn out to have been some smart business conducted in the transfer window.

New head coach Uwe Rosler has two new strikers to choose from or pair together in Chris Wood and Lee Irwin, who are 2/1 and 11/4 to score respectively, while last summer’s acquisitions, Mirko Antenucci and Souleymane Doukara, are 15/8 and 2/1 in the same market.

In each of those wins for Burnley against the West Yorkshire outfit, two years ago, Scott Arfield was on target both home and away. Consequently his 11/2 anytime price is great value and, for punters who recall the Clarets’ Premier League opener, he scored first as the Lancashire outfit took a shock lead against Chelsea last term.

The signing of Belgium international Jelle Vossen could prove to be a huge coup for Sean Dyche, and the former Middlesbrough loanee is 6/1 to break the deadlock at Elland Road. Strike partner Sam Vokes’ experience in this league, meanwhile, shall be pivotal if Burnley are to bounce straight back up to the Premier League, and the Wales target man is 7/4 in the anytime market.

Rosler could well go with a majority of youth. Alex Mowatt, who was fundamental last term, is a genuine scoring threat from midfield and as a result 10/3 anytime. Kalvin Phillips is also a raw talent to watch and, having been promoted to the first-team, is 6/1 in the same market.

One of the biggest tests this term for Leeds will be in defence and, having taken positive steps to remedy this situation in the summer by signing Sol Bamba permanently, he could have a huge effect. If Giuseppe Bellusci can keep his discipline in check as well and not get carried away by the atmosphere, he can be a key player as well.

Coral’s top tip: Arfield anytime scorer @ 11/2
