Arsenal, 9/2 Premier League title chances with Coral, are lining up a cut-price £8m move for Juventus striker Fernando Llorente after the Serie A champions invested heavily in their attacking options.

Tabloid reports claim Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, a long-time admirer of Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, is looking at the Basque target man as an alternative to Olivier Giroud for leading the Emirates line.

In other Arsenal news, Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey says he is “flattered” by interest from 10/3 Champions League favourites Barcelona, who have been linked with a £50m move for him in the future. Ramsey is understood to be keen to play in Spain one day.

Southampton, meanwhile, need central defensive options after losing out on Toby Alderweireld and Florin Gardos sustaining a serious injury. Ramsey’s international teammate James Chester is the latest name to be mentioned in dispatches.

Hull City rate Chester at £10m and 11/4 top six chances Saints can offer him Europa League football on the south coast.

Everton, the same price in that market, have made contingency plans if Kevin Mirallas leaves Goodison Park, and will turn their attention to Sporting Lisbon winger Diego Capel.

Toffees boss Roberto Martinez continues to be linked with attacking players despite a paucity of defensive options on Merseyside – only made worse by Luke Garbutt’s loan exit to Fulham.

Newcastle United are set to continue their ambitious recruitment drive by bidding £12m for Bordeaux marksman and Uruguay international Diego Rolan.

Magpies manager Steve McClaren, 11/4 to take the Toon into the top 10, has already added Netherlands midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum and Serbia striking starlet Aleksandar Mitrovic to the St James’ Park roster.

Staying in the northeast, 6/1 Championship title second-favourites Middlesbrough are set to beat Birmingham City to the signing of Watford forward Diego Fabbrini, despite the Italian spending time on loan at St Andrew’s last term.
