2015 Major Specials
Coral are offering odds of 5/1 for there to be any English winner and 750/1 for an English clean sweep of all the Majors. In contention, Lee Westwood could finally land a Major after going close last year and the 41-year-old seems to be back to his best after shaking off a troubling wrist injury that was affecting his putting game.
Justin Rose is always a strong candidate and won the US Open in 2013. The 34-year-old Orlando-based golfer will be keen to add to this and a second Major in three years isn’t a bad return.
To win a Major in 2015
After two terrific wins in 2014, Coral have made Northern Ireland superstar Rory McIlroy the odds-on 5/6 favourite to carry his fine form through to this year and add another Major to his credentials. The 25-year-old only needs the US Masters, played at Augusta, and the first Major tournament of the calendar year to make it a Grand Slam.
Other contenders could include Tiger Woods who, at 5/2, is the second-favourite, and there is mounting pressure on the American to get back to his best and retain the World number one spot. Compatriot Rickie Fowler, who finished in the top five places of every Major championship last year, is a very good value bet at 5/1 and knows on his day, he can get the better of training partner McIlroy.
To be world number one on December 31st, 2015
Unsurprisingly perhaps, McIlroy is odds-on at 4/11 to still be in this position at the end of the year, though Henrik Stenson is next with a 10/1 price. When the Swede gets his game together he is consistent, and can be prolific on tour. The 38-year-old also won the BMW International Open in 2014, though will be hopeful of delivering some decent performances in the Majors this year.
Others include former number one Adam Scott, who is 12/1, while two-time US Masters winner Bubba Watson is at 16/1 to rank first at the close of 2014. If you fancy a long shot, have a look at Woods, who is a 33/1 chance. When he gets his game together, he is unstoppable and anything can happen. It could well be just a matter of time.
