Coral’s 2015 Premier League Darts top betting tips

Published:

With the 2015 Premier League Darts event coming up, from February 5th – May 21st, Coral provide punters with top tips to help you win big.

We start off with the outright bet, and I suggest you look no further than recent PDC World Championship winner Gary Anderson. The Flying Scotsman has been in devastating form the last couple of months, claiming the Player Championship Finals title in December too, and is a tempting 9/2 chance (third-favourite) to lift his second Premier League Darts title.

But Anderson just scraped into the play-offs last season, finishing fourth ahead of compatriot Peter Wright, so back Michael van Gerwen, who was first in the league in 2014, to be top again at 15/8.

In terms of qualifying for the semi-finals, usual suspects Van Gerwen, Phil Taylor (both 1/4) and Anderson (1/2) are the odds-on chances, but competition debutant Stephen Bunting, who won the 2014 BDO World Championship, is a tempting 7/4 shout. The Bullet has highly impressed since switching to the PDC, knocking out Raymond van Barneveld at Ally Pally to reach the semis, and could further announce himself on the world stage by reaching the final four at London’s O2.

For relegation, Dave Chisnall and another new participant Kim Huybrechts are the joint-favourites at 11/10 to exit the Premier League after week nine. Chizzy, though, showed glimpses of quality last season, including getting a draw against eventual champion Barney, so I would go with one of returning James Wade (9/2) or the inconsistent Adrian Lewis (13/2) to join Belgian Huybrechts, who is 3/1 to finish bottom.

Chisnall features in this betting piece again, as he claimed the most 180s last year in the league, with 64 – nine more than any of the top four finishers. He is fourth-favourite at 13/2 to get the most maximums again, including those thrown on finals night.

A total of two players managed to hit 170 checkouts last season, with rock bottom Simon Whitlock and Anderson claiming them. There were three thrown at PDC World Championship, with Dutch duo Van Barneveld and Van Gerwen one apiece, and you take take even-money odds for there to be three or more at the Premier League.

On to nine-dart finishes, there have been none in this competition since 2012, but with the quality of players participating looking all the more higher, I fancy we will see one or two. In the 10 Premier League years, there have been six thrown in total, with The Power getting three and Barney two. There were a total of three in 2010 and two in 2012, and Coral offer odds of 9/4 for there to be two or more again.

Finally, the winning nationality. As I have previously stated that Scotsman Anderson is my tip for the title, I also suggest that any player other than English (odds-on at 4/5) and Dutch (21/10) will be victorious at 10/3. That means any of The Flying Scotsman, Wright and Huybrechts qualify for this bet.
