All-Weather Championships Finals

Standout of the afternoon, without doubt, goes at Lingfield, where punters are treated to the All-Weather Championships Finals Day, seven competitive races getting started at 1.40pm with the All-Weather Championships Apprentice Handicap. We put forward our NAP and next best below, and if you skip to the foot of this page you will find a selection in every race, designed to boost up your accumulator bets.
Lancelot to go one better
We have little more than a passing interest until our pick of the day lines up in the 3.10pm All-Weather Sprint Final, and there’s a talent-laden 12-runner field expected to post. Of the dozen, Lancelot Du Lac is our winner. Robert Winston takes the ride, and Coral traders have him as race favourite, with 11/4 available at the time of writing.
The six-year-old gelding arrives at course on a stunning run of form, and made his reappearance with a win around Chelmsford back in January over the snappy five-furlongs trip. That was followed up with another prize the following month, this time getting his nose in front at this track, beating Mythmaker on the nod. Last seen in the winter, he was this time edged out ½ a length by Royal Birth, agonisingly missing a hattrick.
Lancelot Du Lac finished second in this contest last year, and already has the beating of many of his main rivals on Friday. Everything looks primed for him to go and score, and we follow at a handy price.
Convey in the lucky last
Next best goes in the lucky last and we throw our weight behind Convey in the All-Weather Middle Distance Championship. Sir Michael Stoute has Ryan Moore in the saddle and the pointers are there for backers to follow with confidence.
This seriously impressive five-year-old was last seen scoring around here in the Winter Derby in February, sticking out in a bunch finish involving the likes of Pinzolo and Absolute Blast. He ran past a number of beaten horses that day and won plenty of admirers with a gutsy effort at the business end of the race.
He will go into this one fit and fresh, ready to pick up where he left off. With Moore on board I expect the pair to serve it up to their rivals, hit the front and drag many of these out of their comfort zone. Coral’s horse racing team are giving 13/8 that we’re right.
