Forward could be set for a Premier League move

Marco Reus’s future at Borussia Dortmund looks to be in doubt.

The 28-year-old, who has been out injured since May, has hinted at a possible move away from the Bundesliga giants in the near future.

And that has put the Premier League’s big guns on alert.

Here, the Coral News Team look at Reus’s possible options in England’s top-flight…

Manchester United

First and foremost, the Red Devils have the spending power to prise Reus away from Westfalenstadion. Man United spent over £146m last summer and won’t be shy of flexing their spending power again in trying to capture Reus.

They may need to as well. While the attacker has hinted about a move towards the end of his contract, it’s likely that Dortmund would want to cash in on one of their star assets before his contract runs out in 2019. Plus, United manager Jose Mourinho is known to be a long-term admirer of the German star.

The Red Devils are already blessed with an incredible array of attacking talent. But there’s always space for a player like Reus who would only enhance United’s credentials at home and in Europe.

Arsenal

With Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil both set for moves away from the Emirates, there are no worries about how Reus would fit into Arsene Wenger’s side.

The Dortmund ace, who has bagged 55 goals in 124 Bundesliga games over the past four seasons, can be deployed anywhere across the frontline. Wenger is a manager who values versatility, so a player like Reus would surely appeal to the Frenchman.

However, question marks remain over the speedy striker’s injury record. Given the Gunners’ recent history in signing injured players, the North Londoners could be reluctant to take another risk with Reus.

Chelsea

While Chelsea aren’t thought to be openly tracking the injured star, the West Londoners are believed to be amongst the four or five clubs who interest Reus most.

And that means a deal could be on the cards. The Blues remain light going forward, and that’s without the inevitable questions over the future of Eden Hazard. The Belgian has been a long-term target for Paris Saint-Germain, which could open the door for Reus at Stamford Bridge.

While several things need to happen for the 28-year-old to move to West London, a switch is not out of the question. And if a player of Reus’s quality becomes available, it would surely be difficult for Antonio Conte to turn his nose up at a move for such a quality performer.
