10-fold from the Scottish League Cup
Saturday’s schedule gives fans a chance to see the Premier League stars in friendly action, with Arsenal meeting Benfica in the Emirates Cup, while Chelsea vs Inter Milan and Man City vs Tottenham goes ahead at the International Champions Cup.
With the new season fast-approaching, teams will be looking to gain match sharpness, use the bulk of their squads, and put on a bit of a show for fans. For our Saturday acca we prefer to concentrate on competitive football, so will be taking a bumper 10-fold from the Scottish League Cup. Follow us in for a £10 stake and you could win £217.80.
Hibs beat Alloa
Premiership Hibs looks the perfect side to get us started, and should have little trouble beating lowly Alloa. They are on the road, and that brings its own dangers, but with the top-flight season just a week away, Neil Lennon will demand a professional job from his troops. 1/5 looks about right.
Raith beat Cowdenbeath
Raith endured a bit of a nightmare season last time, which caught everyone by surprise. Often a side battling for a promotion play-off spot, they ended up in the relegation play-offs, and went down. A rebuilding job is needed, but they’re better than Cowdenbeath, and should show it at 4/11.
Ross County beat Arbroath
County go to Arbroath and, like Hibs, the full-time Premiership players will be expected to pull rank over their lesser opponents and bag a comfortable win. Shocks happen all the time in football, but we don’t expect to see one here. Staggies help out at a handy 4/11.
Hearts beat Dunfermline
This should be a competitive encounter, but in Edinburgh you’ve got to back The Jambos. Manager Ian Cathro is under enough pressure as it is going in to this season, he won’t want to invite any more to his door by losing to The Pars at Tynecastle. 2/5 looks very fair indeed.
QOS beat Albion
We’re not sure what kind of season QOS will have in the Championship, they are more than capable of holding their own, but it wouldn’t surprise if they were relegated either. At home, in front of their own fans, and with match sharpness returning, the 4/11 vs Albion Rovers looks a gift.
Falkirk beat Brechin
The Bairns are one of the most consistent sides in the Scottish second-tier, and it’s nailed on they’ll go and push for promotion back to the Premiership again this term, after a couple of failed efforts in recent years. Much better than Brechin on paper, let’s see it at a cracking 3/4.
Kilmarnock beat Dumbarton
The Sons are rock bottom of Group E after three games played, and that’ll worry everyone at the club. They’re usually not a bad side, but alarm bells are ringing already. They’ll get no sympathy from Killie, who need the win to keep alive their chances of topping the pool. 2/7 is added.
Hamilton beat Stenhousemuir
Accies will fancy their chances of a top-six finish in the coming season, and an extended run in this competition isn’t beyond them either. Stenny are bottom with a record reading lose-win-lose. They’ll leave this one empty-handed too. 2/13 will do a job, and is thrown onto the pile.
Inverness beat Forfar
Caley go to Forfar and this will be no easy task, but we’ve got to give the highlanders a chance. They have been patchy in Group A to date, but Forfar lost each of their first three at this level, and are holding the rest up. Caley will boost their chances with a win at 4/11.
St Mirren beat Airdrie
Lastly, The Saints to bag a maximum pay-out in Paisley. Fans are hoping for a big improvement on last season, but they’ve made a poor start, losing two of their first three. At home we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt at 4/9.
