Scottish League Cup worth an interest
The group stages of the Scottish League Cup continues this weekend, giving Coral’s football punters an interest on Saturday afternoon. The new season is not far away now, but here we have the chance to boost our betting balance with a few shrewd picks.
We’ve run through the fixtures, returning with an interesting five-fold from the 3.00pm starts. Follow us in for a £10 stake and you could be on to a £132 winner. Prices and returns are correct at the time of writing. Let’s spin through the contenders…..
Livingston beat Airdrie
Livingston, managed by former Chelsea and Scotland midfielder David Hopkins, go into game three of their Group H campaign with an impressive record – two wins from two. The Lions have been far from dominant in the early exchanges, but they have shown real fitness and a will to win that has paid off. This will be an interesting match, but Livi are picked to win at home, with Coral offering 2/5.
Partick beat St Mirren
Another match that isn’t going to catch the imagination of the purists out there, but it’ll be a competitive encounter and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for those who go along and pay their entrance fee. Partick stuttered in game one, drawing with Livingston before going on to lose 3-1 on penalties. In this format, that left them with a point. The Saints were beaten 1-0 by Livi, and again you have to side with the home dressing room. The top-flight club go in at 4/5.
Motherwell beat Morton
The Ton are more than capable of winning this, but I really don’t see it. They have a number of injury worries in their squad at this time of year, and aren’t about to risk star striker Jai Quitongo, who has recently returned from a lengthy absence. Up at Fir Park, Stephen Robinson’s side should boost morale with a win at 4/7. The picks beat Queens Park 5-1 last week.
Inverness beat Falkirk
Super Caley have been dropped into Group A and the side recently relegated from the Premiership have picked up five points from a possible six so far. They had to rely on penalties to beat lowly Stirling Albion, which is a concern, but we’re still in July, so that won’t keep anyone up at night. A 3-0 home win over Brechin was to be expected, but helped sharpen them up. Take Caley in a cracker at Coral’s even money.
Hamilton beat QOS
Lastly, we finish on Premiership vs Championship, and the higher ranked side should do the business. Accies have a long season ahead, and have been picked to be relegated by many experts, but a win over QOS wouldn’t surprise anyone. Queens drew 0-0 with East Kilbride, and then lost 4-1 on penalties, which we can’t ignore. Accies round things off at 4/6.
