Anderson beat Chisnall
Garry Anderson is out twice here, first against Chizzy then later vs Wright, but he is our best bet of the night to get off to a flyer and beat Chisnall. 1/2 on the Flying Scotsman looks great value, and is sure to go in just about every Thursday accumulator. The selection boasts a stunning head-to-head record against his opponent and looks a banker to continue that. He’ll want to take confidence from this one into the Wright match. Gary starts us off on the right foot.
Van Gerwen beat Wright
This is game of the night for us. Two bang in form players, and two evenly matched competitors eager to get the upper-hand on the other. Wright is playing arguably the best darts of his career, and goes as the more consistent, but MVG should swing things back in his favour. We saw last week just how much this title means to Mighty, and I expect to see the passionate Dutchman come roaring out of the traps. With Wright having one eye on a busy night’s work, he’d prefer this game any other week. MVG is added to our bet at 2/5.
Barneveld beat Lewis
Lewis was out of the running a couple of weeks ago, but if he beats Barney in Liverpool he’s in with a great shout of extending his season. That would make for great entertainment, but I don’t see it happening. This is a must win for Jackpot, but Raymond has been keeping his averages high, even in defeat, and has looked a rejuvenated player this year. At his best he’ll wipe the floor with an unconvincing Lewis, and we go with that at an eye-catching 5/4. There looks plenty of value around this week.
Taylor beat Wade
We’ve seen glimpses of how good James Wade can be this year, but they are too few and far between and The Machine is far too unreliable to trust with your hard-earned cash. We’re happy to oppose him most weeks, and that’s the tactic again here. He fell apart against MVG last time, and although it was a good effort, he came out of the match empty-handed. Taylor’s right where he wants to be and is the safer option at 8/11.
Wright beat Anderson
Top of the bill and the second game of the night for both players. A straight shoot-out is difficult enough to solve without trying to predict how they’ll get through their opening matches, and how that could affect this. Anderson is a top player, but he hasn’t reached his level so far this year, and was beaten 7-3 by Lewis last time. Wright’s confidence to shine through at 8/5.
