Olympics Betting at Coral

The first modern Olympics was held in 1896 in Athens, Greece and they will next take place in Tokyo, Japan between July 24th and August 9th, 2020. After the success of the Beijing Games of 2008, we are all waiting with bated breath to see whether another of the Far East's big names can host such a spectacle in style! Sports at the Olympics include archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, canoeing, cycling, diving, equestrian, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, handball, hockey, judo, rowing, rugby sevens, sailing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling. There's also new sports set to be on show in Tokyo after gaining IOC approval. These are baseball/softball, karate, sport climbing, surfing and skateboarding.

Stars are made at the Olympics

The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil found the London Games of 2012 a tough act to follow, with some of Team GB's sportsmen and women repeating their successes in South America. Jessica Ennis-Hill narrowly missed out on retaining her Heptathlon title, but has called time on her athletics career. Usain Bolt remains a real force in men's sprinting with compatriot Elaine Thompson taking both women's events ahead of her fellow Jamaicans, the American contingent and improving Dutch athlete Dafne Schippers. Africa's impressive displays in middle-distance running, meanwhile, continued with 800m world record holder David Rudisha and Caster Semenya reigning round two laps of the track. The USA and Eastern Europe once again showed their strength in field events with Russia banned from competing in the athletics. Jeff Henderson and Christian Taylor delivered in the men's long and triple jump events. The US women completed a clean sweep in the hurdles through Brianna Rollins and Dalilah Muhammad. Mo Farah cemented his legacy by retaining both 5k and 10k titles for Great Britain. Andy Murray did likewise in the men's singles tennis. It took a penalty shootout, meanwhile, to break Brazil men's Olympics curse in the football. Neymar netted the winning spot-kick. British cycling, meanwhile, remained a real source of strength for the team in Rio thanks to a terrific medal haul of 12. This was double any other country's return in the velodrome or on the roads. Coral provide comprehensive betting coverage of all Olympics events nearer the time, but the road to Tokyo will take plenty of twists and turns. Raise the game and be sure to bet with us in 2020!
