York Ebor Festival 2015: DBS Premier Yearling Stakes preview (13.55)

Tasleet posted a cracking effort when runner-up last time out and can take advantage of a drop in class to go one better in the DBS Premier Yearling Stakes at York (13.55), on day two of the Ebor Festival.
The William Haggas trained colt caught the eye in no uncertain fashion when fourth on debut over course and distance, running very green throughout before keeping on under tender handling to be gaining at the finish and beaten 3 1/4 lengths.
Tasleet duly showed the benefit of that experience when bolting up by three lengths at Chepstow before following up in impressive fashion in a Listed contest at Newbury.
The son of Showcasing raced keenly in the latter, but made smooth headway from off the pace to challenge on the bridle at the furlong marker before showing a devastating turn of foot in the final 100 yards to win by a neck.
Tasleet was value for much more than the winning margin as he got carried left and bumped inside the last, and the way in which he quickened marked him out as an above average sort.
That view was confirmed last time out in the Group 2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood where Tasleet finished a 2 3/4 length second to the very exciting Shalaa, sticking to the task well and having several useful performers in behind.
Tasleet was given an official rating of 109 on the back of that effort, and that makes him look thrown-in this lower grade 6f sales contest and impossible to oppose.
Excessable ran very well to finish fifth of 22 to Mr Lupton from an unfavourable low draw in the Super Sprint at Newbury and looks sure to make his presence felt, but the biggest danger to Tasleet could well be Projection.
The Roger Charlton trained colt was far too green to do himself justice when well-beaten on debut at Windsor, but showed the benefit of that experience when romping to a three length success at the same venue 10 days ago.
Projection looked far more streetwise, and after showing plenty of early pace to track the leader only had to be pushed clear inside the last to score with any amount in hand.
It was a most taking peformance and one which suggested the unexposed son of Acclamation should have plenty more to offer and needed keeping firmly onside.
