Brazil v Switzerland betting tips, predictions and odds

Brazil will hope to further enhance their status as favourites in the outright World Cup betting when they meet Switzerland in their second group match.

The five-time champions made a solid start with a 2-0 win against Serbia and face European opposition again in Switzerland, who were 1-0 winners against Cameroon.

Monday’s match at Stadium 974 in Doha kicks off at 4pm and is live on ITV.

Winning start for Selecao

Brazil eased their way into the World Cup before Richarlison’s stunning volley capped an opening 2-0 victory at a yellow-clad Lusail Stadium.

The Tottenham striker was preferred to Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and justified his selection with both goals, giving us 11/8, 4/1 and 6/1 winners in our betting tips.

After a tepid first half where Serbia’s committed defence had the upper hand, Richarlison broke the deadlock with a tap-in in the 62nd minute and then scored a spectacular second 11 minutes later.

The 10 shots Brazil had on target was the most of any team in the opening round of group games while they also hit the woodwork twice.

The only concern for Brazil was the late substitution of Neymar following treatment for a knock, while Danilo limped through the final minutes.

Brazil winning odds of 4/9 suggest another win here even if they are without their injured duo, while another win to nil at 29/20 looks a solid pick for Brazil v Switzerland betting tips.

Swiss no pushovers

Switzerland were quarter-finalists at the European Championship last summer and have a realistic chance of matching that achievement at the World Cup after their victory over Cameroon.

Breel Embolo, who was born in the West African country, scored the only goal when he stroked home Xherdan Shaqiri’s low cross.

Coach Murat Yakin said: “Of course, you need patience. It was a mature performance. Of course there is some uncertainty in a World Cup, not everything can go well from the start, but I’m happy with the possession, with how we got it converted.

“Maybe 1-0 or 2-0 is not sufficient for my taste, maybe we could have scored more goals, but all in all we had a mature performance by our team.”

Switzerland deserve respect after topping a qualifying group which contained Italy but are 6/1 to cause an upset.

While second place in the group looks realistic, they are usually a class below the top sides at the World Cup. They managed a 1-1 draw in this fixture at the World Cup four years ago but this Brazil team looks stronger, especially in defence, and another 2-0 win for the Selecao appeals at 6/1 in the Brazil v Switzerland odds.

In the #YourCall options, Brazil to win either half, score at least two goals and keep a clean sheet catches the eye at 9/4.

Richarlison the main threat

Richarlison is the central striker for Brazil and offers much more of a goal threat for his country than he has for Tottenham this season.

His two goals in the opener pushed him to the top of the Golden Boot betting and he will be keen to add to his tally here.

Richarlison is 10/3 to open the scoring and 6/1 for another brace, while the 25-year-old to score first in a 2-0 win is 14/1 and completes our Brazil v Switzerland predictions.
