Tunisia v France: Changes could keep it competitive
Tunisia v France betting tips, predictions and odds
France need only a draw to be confirmed as Group D winners at World Cup 2022 and could be forgiven for easing off when they face Tunisia.
Two wins from two has put the defending champions into the last 16 already, while even a surprise win for Tunisia is unlikely to be enough for them to progress.
Wednesday’s match at Education City Stadium kicks off at 3pm and is live on the BBC.
France in fine form
France suffered several injury setbacks in the build-up to the World Cup but it has been smooth sailing so far as they look to become the first champions to retain the World Cup since 1962.
A 4-1 victory over Australia was an impressive start before Kylian Mbappe struck twice as Les Bleus saw off bogey team Denmark 2-1 to reach the knockout stage with a game to spare.
Having scored against the Aussies, Mbappe was the star of the show again in the Denmark game with two close-range finishes – his winner coming four minutes from time.
That extended France’s World Cup winning streak to six games and France winning odds of 8/15 suggest that run can continue here.
Didier Deschamps may opt to rotate his squad here though and with several star names already absent through injury, most notably Karim Benzema, their strength in depth may be tested.
Opposing goals may be the best option for Tunisia v France betting tips, with under 2.5 available at 5/6 while France to win and under 2.5 goals is 5/2.
Tunisia can provide resistance
The timing of this fixture boosts Tunisia’s hopes of causing an upset but they are still 7/5 to avoid defeat and 5/1 for victory, while they are 20/1 to secure a top-two finish in the Group D betting.
They are yet to find the net after a goalless draw with Denmark was followed by a 1-0 defeat against Australia which has left them almost certainly facing an early exit.
Their defence has once again been solid though and prior to the Australia game had kept nine clean sheets in 11 games so they are unlikely to be blown away.
A goalless first half is 17/10 in the Tunisia v France odds while under 1.5 goals in the first half, under 2.5 goals in the second half and either team to win is 5/4 in Coral’s #YourCall options.
Abdi the bad guy
Regardless of team selection, France look likely to dominate possession given the talent available in the squad.
Tunisia may be on the back foot for long spells and we fancy left-back Ali Abdi (pictured above) to be a busy man.
He made seven tackles in the Denmark game and was booked against Australia, as he has been in four of his 10 Ligue 2 games for Caen this season.
With that in mind, Coral’s offer of 19/4 for Abdi to win three or more tackles and be shown a card completes our Tunisia v France predictions.
