Published:World Cup qualifying tips for Saturday
The international break has taken centre stage at this point of the season and there are plenty of 2018 World Cup qualifying tussles to enjoy on Saturday.
Both the Republic of Ireland and Wales are in action as part of the intriguing match-ups taking place, as they seek further points in their groups against Austria and Serbia respectively.
Meanwhile, European giants Italy and Spain are involved, so ahead of the action, Coral outline World Cup qualifying tips for Saturday games, including an awesome acca for your enjoyment!
Ireland to overcome Austria
Martin O’Neill’s Boys in Green enjoyed a gallant Euro 2016 campaign this past summer and they have now gone four games unbeaten since that knockout stage loss to hosts France.
Of those four outings, the Irish have prevailed on three occasions and earned one draw away to Serbia. Coming into this clash on the back of an away success over Moldova and, having continued to impress under O’Neill and Roy Keane, Ireland are a promising 3/1 to clinch three points here.
Wales’ Bale to open scoring against Serbia
With the next Group D game for the Welsh being against close rivals Ireland next year, Chris Coleman’s Dragons will be aiming for a strong result over Serbia on home soil this time out.
The hosts have been held to two successive draws in their group proceedings following a comfortable home victory over Moldova. Real Madrid ace Gareth Bale has been on target in two of those three games and will enter this latest encounter at 16/5 to open the scoring once again for his nation.
Italy’s Immobile to bag brace over Liechtenstein
Ciro Immobile has revived his international career of late with the Italians and starred in recent results, including striking in qualifying successes over Israel and Macedonia.
Against a less than formidable Liechtenstein rearguard next, the Lazio frontman will be licking his lips and he will take to the pitch at 9/4 to bag a brace or more. The Serie A attacker dispatched two goals against Macedonia last time out and boasts 12 strikes in 15 outings so far this campaign on all fronts.
Spain to fire five or more past Macedonia
Spain have looked as strong as ever in previous qualifying outings, having conceded just one goal this campaign during three wins and a draw ahead of their Macedonia match-up.
Julen Lopetegui’s men have also racked up 13 goals in those four games, including eight in the thumping victory over Liechtenstein. Spain can therefore be backed at a promising 5/2 to fire in five or more goals on home soil here.
