Windsor Preview: O’Gorman primed for repeat success

O’Gorman looks to hold major claims of landing the sprint handicap at Windsor this evening for the second year running (7.35).

The Gary Brown trained gelding charge is a consistent sort who ended a long losing run when scoring in this contest 12 months ago.

The five-year-old was slowly away, but travelled strongly off the pace and came with a well-timed run to beat Blue Jack by a length off a mark of 80.

The son of Sleeping Indian gets into this year’s renewal off exactly the same rating, having shaped as if coming to the boil in his last two starts.

In the first of those, O’Gorman didn’t get the clearest of runs before staying on to finish a 4 1/4 length fourth to Breccbennach and now meets that rival on 7lb better terms.

O’Gorman then ran very well last time out over course and distance when finishing fast from off the pace to be third to Links Drive Lady, and with George Baker in the saddle looks primed to make a bold defence of his crown.

Magique shaped with bags of promise when runner-up on her seasonal reappearance and is fancied to go one better in the mile handicap (8.05).

The Jeremy Noseda trained filly finished well to be beaten just a length by Trulee Scrumptious at Newmarket after being given plenty to do.

That was the daughter of Jeremy’s first run for 213 days, and one which suggested the four-year-old would be back in the winners’ enclosure sooner rather than later.

Magique is just 5lb higher then when scoring over course and distance back in October, where she showed a nice turn of foot to beat Rainbow Beauty by 1 1/4 lengths, and everything looks in place for a big run now returned to the scene of her last success.
Jockey Richard Hughes rarely leaves Windsor without a winner and looks to have a fine chance aboard Allergic Reaction in the 1m 2f contest that closes proceedings (9.05).

The Clive Cox trained gelding showed improved form when stepped up in trip to 1m 2f and making virtually all to beat Gift Of Rain at Leicester last month.

The pair pulled well clear of the third home, and a 6lb rise may not be enough to stop Allergic Reaction following-up given that the son of Kyllachy looks to have the potential to improve further.
