Don’t let Master Of Irony be lost on you at Windsor

Master Of Irony caught the eye last time out, so looks decent value to land the 1m 2f handicap on today’s card at Windsor (16:35).

The Ralph Beckett trained gelding showed plenty of promise last season, including when strolling to a 3 1/4 length success in a handicap over 1m at Doncaster.

Master Of Irony got put up 9lb for that success, and was far from disgraced off his revised mark of 87 when sixth of 19 in a competitive class 2 affair at York.

The four-year-old is now able to race in this lower grade class 3 contest off a rating of 84 and, after a below par effort on seasonal reappearance, hinted that his time was near when sixth of 12 to Treasure Notes over 1m contest at Ripon last month.

After being slowly away, Master Of Irony stayed on nicely to be nearest at the finish and beaten 3 1/4 lengths and the extra two furlongs in this look sure to suit.

The son of Makfi also remains lightly-raced and open to further improvement, and hails from a yard in fine form at present.

Course specialist Kinglami weighted to strike

Kinglami has an excellent record at the track and can cash-in on a drop in the weights to further enhance it in the 6f handicap (17:35).

All three of the gelding’s career wins have come over course and distance. In the last of those 12 months ago, Kinglami showed a good attitude to get up and score by a head off a rating of 82.

The seven-year-old went on to finish runner-up of 89, but is now back down to his last winning mark – having failed to trouble the judge in three runs this season.

That gives Kinglami every chance from a handicapping perspective and, prior to getting no luck in-running last time out, he had run really well when fifth of 11 to Englishman in a class 3 affair over course and distance.

Kinglami kept on nicely to be beaten 3 1/2 lengths and the winner, to whom he was conceding 3lb, has since come out and landed a competitive class 2 handicap at Newmarket.

That form reads well in the context of this class 4 contest and, with promising apprentice Edward Greatrex taking off 5lb with his claim, Kinglami looks weighted to run a huge race on the pick of his form.
