Wigan chase second in Super League as they visit Wakefield

Shaun Wane’s Wigan Warriors are very heavily odds-on with official club sponsors Coral at 1/20 to beat Wakefield, having already recorded a 52-10 victory over the Wildcats at the end of March.

This acted as a catalyst to the Cherry and Whites turnaround in fortunes, which has seen them rise to third in Super League, one point off fierce rivals St Helens in second place, who they beat in the following match on Good Friday.

In-form Dom Manfredi scored twice in the reverse, and the prolific winger also crossed for a hat-trick in the terrific 30-20 win over Warrington last time out. He is unsurprisingly odds-on at 4/11 to breach the in-goal area anytime and 11/2 to put the initial four points on the board.

Liam Farrell also crossed twice against the West Yorkshire outfit, as well as scoring against the Wolves, and is a respectable 5/4 in the anytime market, meanwhile, Dan Sarginson is available in a match special to score anytime at 6/4 after his odds were boosted from evens.

Wane, meanwhile, is relishing key games that are coming up and has spoken of his delight at the opportunities that await his players, in particular, both Matty Bowen and Ryan Hampshire, whose places could be under threat with the return of Sam Tomkins from the NRL, though Wane has been impressed with attitude in training.

“Matty could have sulked but he has continued to train hard and I have seen him helping young Rocky [Ryan] Hampshire who has been playing full back.

“This tells me everything about Matty Bowen. He is a first class professional. The way he has been working with Rocky – offering help and advice – says everything about the man,”, he continued.

“There has been no need to try and keep Matty motivated. He is working harder than ever and he will come again for us. I have so much respect for him and the way he conducts himself.”

Bottom club Wakefield had their match against Hull FC postponed last time out, though top scorer Chris Riley (six tries) could be worth a punt at 13/8 anytime, while stand off Jacob Miller, on four has decent odds of 5/2 in the same market.
